Does anyone have a link to a guide for setting these cards up? I've basically just slotted mine in but sounds like I should be tweaking things.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Yup i got one myself. It's the proper way to build a GPU. Quality through and through. I had good results from lowering the core clock from 1630 to 1600 and undervolt the p6 and p7 to 1000mv and 1025mv. I also lowered the voltage setting hidding under HBM to equal that of my P6 voltage, and i upped the power limit by 50%. If these settings works for you as well then you should see power consumption drop to around 200-230 depending on the resolution you are running and the card should perform a bit better overall.
If you can provide some settings to start off that would be perfect! Only have one strange issue is that I am not able to add custom resolutions in the Radeon software, I use the 5700XT to OC my monitor but the Vega 64 I cannot get it to add one.
Thanks.
Might want to keep your updates on pause as another member here said a recent update introduced the problem for him and he had to go back to 1903 to solve the problem.
Do you have any further info on this? I'd put the issue down to updating the graphics drivers from the 2019 to the 2020 ones finally, and have been trying out various old drivers trying to fix the issue. Only signed into the forum to get an MM price check on the card so I could make the switch to team green, but if there's a windows update I could roll back or something, I'd definitely give that a try.
Use CRU for custom resolutions and HZ. Works a lot better than what Radeon Settings offers.
Here are the settings I'm using right now, these are quick and dirty ones too so results may vary. Havent crashed with them yet though.
Thanks, have got the GPU-1700 & MEM-1000 it survived a full night of gaming I cannot get CRU to work and unable to add a custom Hz frequency, all very strange!!
Have you played Doom Eternal? During the initial loading screen, my Sapphire gives off an enormous coil wine. Not noticed it any other game, been dead quite. I can replicate it every single time, when the game menu loads the coil wine goes.
Happy with the purchase, massive step up from my old 970 in my secondary system, going to keep using it for a few days on the 3600 then it gets moved into an AF 1600.
I prefer using as few 3rd party tools as necessary when dealing with Windows. However they are required from time to time to deal with things like the standby list bug filling up memory causing stuttering on some system and whatnot. You can also use "Shutup10" to disable automatic windows updates. As as well a load of other crap.
The info is as follows. Have been running without issues for the longest time. The 2020 drivers are released, still no major issues. Then after a windows update everything goes south and black screens starts happening and other weird wonky stuff. After much troubleshooting and several driver installs and extensive driver cleaning my issue isn't resolved. Even reinstalling windows 1909 did nothing for me. Then I threw out Windows 10 EDU version 1909 and installed the same win 10 edition but version 1903 and killed windows update using group policies. Haven't had a single issue since using the same 2020 driver(20.3.1) and now the latest 20.4.1.
It isn't the first time i've experience windows update bricking a system or seeing windows updates being incompatible with gpu drivers from both camps(had gsync brake completely after a windows update back when i had a 1080 ti).
Hmm, what's the easiest way to install 1903 fresh? Since the official MS download is going to be the current 1909 version, is there another way to do it?
Edit: Could you confirm what exact version and OS build you are on? Just reinstalled, now on Version 1903 build 18362.720 and just black screened again running the 20.4.1 driver.
Windows 10 EDU Version 1903, OS Build 18362.239 . EDU should be equal to Pro.
Following updates are installed, as they are part of my install image.
KB4507453
KB4506991
KB4506472
KB4509096
Hardware specs:
LG 27KF750/Dell S3220DGF(getting freesync flicker on the Dell panel, have a Vesa approved DP cable in the mail)
Gigabyte B450 Aorus M (bios F50)
Ryzen 3600
Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64
32gb of HyperX Predator 3200 CL16(4 sticks)
I don't think there is a one solution for all in regards to the black screen issue. Changing OS worked with my specific setup, why? I have no idea sadly.
Yeah, honestly I'm just desparate because as it stands I can't really do anything with this PC, and the only option after reinstalling the OS is to get a new gpu.
I'll try reinstalling windows again, the installer I have is actually build 18362.356, I figured it would be safe to have the quality updates installed while skipping the 1909 feature update. New test is to try .356 with no updates, and worst case the tool I have can download 18362.30 as well, so I can go back to that.
Fingers crossed one of these works.
Damn, I feel your pain.I really hope that your problem gets solved, otherwise i fully understand wanting to change the GPU to something else. Problem is there seems to be so many possible variables. For example i had some issues a while back with my LG monitor and its overdrive seeming a bit weak which is weird cause its a 240hz tn. However changing cable fixed that.. like WTF. My Dell suffers from freesync flicker when the framerate isn't consistent enough(fx going from 80 to 60 or below which activates LFC causing the panel to refresh at double the fps for a single frame or 2 leading to annoying brightness flicker), again some say this can be fixed with a proper DP cable due to the VA panel being very sensitive to voltage. At this point im just desperate to get it fixed cause my eyes are bleeding sometimes.
How is the gpu wired power wise? 1 pcie with splitter or 2 single 8 pins from the psu?Damn, I feel your pain.
Mini update here, just tried a super bare bones install. Windows. 356 with no updates, latest graphics and chipset drivers, logic headset software and that's it. Still black screened. Now downloading. 30 and going to try again. Only other things to try after that are using old graphics drivers, maybe not installing any chipset drivers, and trying with freesync off.
It's one cable, but the cable itself has two 8 pins at the end. It's a seasonic focus gold 1000W, only a couple of years old, so I don't think it should be overloading the psu. Unfortunately I think the rest of the cables are in storage and inaccessable given the current circumstances, I'll have a check just in case though. How is the gpu wired power wise? 1 pcie with splitter or 2 single 8 pins from the psu?

I doubt Navi is as bad in this case as Vega can be I just simply recall having the blank screen issue way back when i got my Vega 64 and i too at the time used a single 8 pin from the PSU with a splitter to 2 8 pins. The cable was rated for 300 watts yet my Vega 64 melted the plug due to power spikes from time to time(from before i started undervolting) . My PSU is a platinum AX860 from corsair so certainly a good unit. However I changed to 2 single 8 to 8 pin PCIe power cables and have had no issues with power spikes since. If you happen to find those cables it's worth a shot even if it is most likely not going to change a thing for ya.
Well, didn't black screen for once, this time it was blue! https://imgur.com/PUg3has
windbg says:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
MODULE_NAME: atikmpag
IMAGE_NAME: atikmpag.sys
But them on a reboot it black screened on the windows desktop while I was uploading that image to imgur. For now I've given up on that card, found my old R9 290. About to update everything to current versions, and if things are stable will get the 64 RMA'ed. Any idea how good Powercolor are with RMA's?
