The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Just done a 20 minute bench of Firestrike, with a few overlays on screen for you guys to see what settings I'm at for future reference if needed. I've now dropped my core and voltage a tad for definite stability, this will be final 24/7 settings for gaming now. I've benched at 1750/1100 so at 1700/1080 it's given it a bit of breathing space.

I'm very impressed with the absolute solid core and memory clock speeds, just no dips or fluctuations at all. Interestingly only 63c on the Hotspot in GPU-Z and a max core temp of 39c and max HBM temp of 40c.

Man those flat lines are fit. I copied your settings on my v64 Liquid stock but with +25% pwr (can't see your setting but my PSU won't do +50) and my lines are more like the Alps. I wish I could just use someone else's settings to be honest. Tinkering is alright up to a point. How about I send you my whole PC and you send it back with really flat Wattman lines? :D

I just did the same on my liquid but at 50% power limit.
Ran a superposition benchmark at high settings and it was super smooth.

Here is my 56 which thinks its a 64 with a flat stable 1640ish mhz and 999mhz ram on superposition, the temps are great and settle at a max of about 71deg c, power is decent as well. The liquid cooled boards should be doing much better.
Have had higher scores with even higher clocks.

I'm sure it has been discussed before, but what directions do what on the tiny switch by the bracket/output end of the card?

bios switch between primary/secondary bios - I think you can only flash the primary one so the secondary is always available to go back to if you get a bad flash.

Different bios's have different power/clock/boost/voltage levels set.
 
My HBM voltage testing was on public drivers.

Do you have a link to your testing?
The 64's are overvolted to 1.35v out the box.
If you are referencing the memory voltage in wattman then that isn't linked to the working operating voltage.
Bur if you are modifying the powertables and registries to control the hbm voltage regulator, do you have special drivers or tools ?

LMAO. I'm at +50% power. I find the lower you can keep your voltage on a particular clock, the more stable you will be around that clock within reason. If I push to 1750mhz, then my core fluctuates between 1700mhz and 1730mhz, the lines are probably very similar to yours then. I've dialled them back to find a more constant, I've done the balls to the wall benching and incredibly happy with the graphics score, now its time to game and enjoy.

Just had a 2 hour session on BF1 MP, HBM never dropped from 1080mhz and core was pretty much constant 1698mhz to 1705mhz.

With the number of failures I'm reading about I'm so glad I stayed away from the (IMHO) overpriced AIO version.

I know we only really hear when it goes wrong but still too many reporting issues.

We have a relatively small sample size here, god knows how many worldwide have gone kapuut or won't work as intended!!! :eek:

edit - C1-stepping smells like an emergency re-spin to me, hence the launch delay.

After dabbling in a bit of light overclocking of my Vega64 AC, it was time to dismantle it for some water cooling goodness:

On my Vega64 (black reference air cooler) there's no resin on the interposer filling in the gaps between dies, but they are all completely level and flush with one another.

Managed to get a graphics score of 7939 on Timespy with state 6: 1632MHz 1080mV, state 7: 1737MHz 1200mV, HBM: 1090MHz 1050mV (unchanged from default), +50% power. Wattman showed the clocks stable at around 1730 and the loop kept the GPU to below 41°C.

With Vega under water and the system fans at around 600-700rpm under load, it's quiet enough that coil whine during certain scenes is noticeable with the case open, though it doesn't bother me - I've heard louder from CRTs. It makes a nice change being able to run benchmarks without the blower fan going at 4000rpm.



I then pushed my R7 1700 from 3.62GHz to 3.9GHz, but sadly after finding stability at 1.38V and running with this for a while, after a restart my motherboard decided it didn't want to initialize any of my memory (which I've always been running at stock 2400MHz 1.2V) anymore :mad:

Spent a while troubleshooting this (I could go on but not in this thread), but now I'm just returning the motherboard for a replacement. Unfortunately it looks like I'll be waiting until October for my retailer to get one in stock. I could get a refund and re-buy, but the prices are all now £30-40 more than I paid :(

I wish my motherboard's quality matched that of Vega.
 
I don't know the differences between the bios. It's possible that the AIO has high voltage and TDP limits and is better binned.


Better binned meaning its more likely to be chucked into the bin after it craps out soon after being installed? The aio cards seem to be dropping like flies around here.

Adjusting HBM voltage triggers a bug which I've reported, that's what i was referring to Dave.

Second, @TonyTurbo78 Nice clocks bro, gonna aim for the same things. I assume you have the AC version ? Of is it LC ? Your temps do make me think its the LC ? Oh and IF it's the AC, what are your fan settings.
