Has anyone had any experience with this display?

Ive been looking to get a decent 32inch TV display for ages that i can use for TV/Xbox360, and sometimes my PC and have recently been looking at the Samsung range as a friend has the 26inch version and is very pleased with it.

Does anyone have any gripes with it? Is it worth paying that (fair bit) extra to get the 40incher?

This is replacing my 21" Goodmans CRT - so it should be quite a difference i hope :p

Oh and im currently just playing DVDs from my dodgy old PS2 - is it worth getting a decent DVD player or can i just use the Xbox360 for playing DVDs? I dont actually have the Xbox360 yet...just dont know if it would look better on a more expensive seperate DVD player rather than the Xbox360?

Ideally ill also get some sort of surround sound stuff to go with all this - so if anyone can reccomend some systems it would be hugely appreciated for this home cinema n00b!

I have this tv and so far am very pleased with it for the price. Had to return a faulty version with old firmware that would'nt display reds very well and gave red artifacts at 720p on the Xbox 360. New version with the latest firmware is exellent. I run it at 1080i via component for the 360 and it looks stunning  . This set replaced a 26' goodmans crt and the difference was jaw dropping to say the least. I dont really bother with DVD's via the xbox, just stick to my DK digital player through rgb scart. Hope to replace this soon with a HD DVD either Samsung or Denon ;).

As for the surround sound i got a Denon 1906 av amp and Kef KHT 1005 5.1 eggs....lovely, very immersive for both dvd's and gaming :D

Thanks matey appreciate your comments - am now looking at the LE32R51 (the all black one) rather than the 41 - do you know the differences apart from the casing colour?

All i can see is that the R51 has a higher contrast ratio...am i right in saying there very similar otherwise? Can they both be plugged into a PC?

Good lord and crikey, just went abit mental and ordered the LE32R51 because it apparently has a higher response time panel aswell as a few other things.

£720 after delivery, should be here wednesday - lets pray for no dead pixels or old firmwares :D

Just gotta get a new DVD player and sound system after that...!

The R41 & R51 are identical specswise iirc. The changes are only cosmetic.

I have an R41 which has the flush component connectors. Had the unit swapped out and I still had the same problem but much less pronounced. The cables stay on so I won't be bothering with anymore messign around and run the risk of other problems (dead pixels etc..)

I use a Pioneer DV575a through component for DVD's and have dropped the Xbox360 on the VGA connection - both look nothing short of stunning!

Having replaced a 5 year old 24" CRT I love it and I can fully recommend it :D

//edit: Too slow :(

Thanks for all your comments guys - its good to hear after having my bank balance shifted quite dramatically :)

Looks like i actually bought the LE32T51B, not the R51 - and im kinda hoping there is no difference? Just going to look on the Samsung site...

And sorry Abyss - but it is definately a competitor and i would prefer not to risk a ban! What would i do without the forums?

Edit: Cannot see any difference between the R51B and the T51B apart from the chassis (speakers on either side rather than the bottom) and the colour (black rather than black and silver).

Ill be looking to hook this baby up to my PC (so i can play BF whilst watching a DVD with PIP - fantastic!) etc.

With the luck i have been having itll be covered in dead pixels...although i was talking to the sales manager from Samsung the other day and we were talking about pixel issues. Apparently they have a zero "bright dot" (e.g. stuck on pixel) policy and a "no more than 5 bunched together" policy. Crikey, i worry too much. Alright people, nothing to read here- just a man freezing his knackers off in his freezing room praying to that big man in the sky that he gets a pixel perfect display. What i have become :p

I've had 2 pixel pefect displays from Samsung - very impressed. Mind you I have bought over 10 TFT's for my PC/Family's PC's and not seen 1 dead pixel either so I must just be lucky :>

Yes the 51 and 61 models are a replacement for the 41 range which I imagine will dissapear as stocks dry up. As to the differences it can be a bit hard to say sometimes as samsungs website is always wrong witht he specs lol. But as far as I know the newer ones or at least the M61 I have has a higher response time ie 8ms instead of 12, a higher contrast ratio using DNie ie 5000:1 instead of 1000:1, more colours ie 16million and finally it has better pixel technology allowing for a better widescreen effect.

Ive been reading a lot of stuff on the AV Forums and am slightly annoyed and all the things that have been said about the LE32T51 after i just bloomin ordered one!

All sorts of complaints (esp about the LE32R51 and the T51 uses the same panel), and one guy saying how the T51 is just a "corner cutting" one and is a waste of time. Nooo!

Also it apparently doesnt have full HDMI it has DVI something and seperate audio? What does this mean and will it effect me if im watching Sky tv and playing an Xbox 360???

Well the best you'll get with Sky is RGB scart and you can use COmponent for the Xbox so it shouldn't effect you.

Well i had some apprehension when ordering mine but decided to take the plunge and if i encountered problems, well just return it under the distance selling act :D. That aside i obviously was very happy with it and still am ;)
