The Sega Saturn

Just selling off all of my Saturn collection on the bay.
Some of them go for silly money.

The Saturn had some epic titles, but these are rare and/or Jap only.
Why the **** were Grandia and Metal Slug not released in Europe?!
Of the Saturn I have already mentioned, one game is King Of Fighters 95 fully boxed. Very very rare (Ebay always has a few Jap versions). Some rare Batman game too.

Most titles are just junk now. I didn't like Ridge Racer (PS1) or Sega Rally (Saturn) so just think they are really awful 20 years on.
Early 3D games did not age well, plus FPS and racing games in general don't age well. I was very disappointed at how rubbish the Saturn port of Doom was.

The Saturn version of Doom was a stinker.

FPS could be done well on the console when devs made use of the dual processors. Exhumed and Quake show that and are better than the PS1 versions.

I had a Sega Saturn but not for very long I think. Did enjoy the console and had a couple of friends who had one so always swapping games.
Bought it out of my mother's catalogue she was running so paid over the odds.

Didn't know much about gaming news other than what was in the gaming mags but realised it was on the downer when my local Woolworths stopped selling games for it.

Sold it then and bought a PS1.

Panzer Dragoon, Knights and Sega Rally was brilliant though.

I had intentions of getting a Saturn, but like I said, I want down to the local video games store, money in hand and the guy I spoke with said you really should consider a Playstation, demo'd wipeout to me, along with some other games, Tekken etc and preferred the way the controller handled at the time so walked out with a grey playstation, TBH the machine (Playstation) looked horrendous, grey slab and it never did fit in well with my TV cabinet (upstairs in my bedroom I must say as I lived with my parents at the time) but I never did regret the purchase..

But due to the wealth of games on Playstation I never did buy a Saturn. I did play Doom on the Playstation and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the PC version I felt, but back in that day PC was for mouse and keyboard, games consoles controller type games, and fps were not controller friendly.

Come a long way since those days..

In the end I sold my Saturn.

Console 2 controllers over 20 games and got a PS1 with Final Fantasy 7.

The PlayStation was a great console. Along with the N64 and the PC being in its prime it really was a great time for gaming.

Athlete kings, Alien, Daytona, Sega Rally and the game I played most F1 Challenge. It just worked perfectly in manual gears on the wheel. Sounded amazing.

Funnily enough this week I cleared out my cupboards and a boxed saturn and a dreamcast are going to visit the recycling center.

Still have my Saturn in the attic with a collection of 50 / 60 games, loved Step Slope Sliders, Sega Rally and Burning Rangers.

Yeah I have had a blitz of all rooms in my house. If I haven't touched it in 5 years it's going. Sadly they won't take the mrs for recycling. I just can't see me ever using the saturn again and I cba to go through the ebay routine.

Passed my Saturn onto a friend years ago,it still works fine:)used to play mainly sega rally, was a superb game for its time, even Daytona despite pop up lol was an enjoyable game.

I might be wrong but I vaguely remember there was 2 versions of Daytona. The original port was dodgy and Daytona championship edition was quite decent. Anybody remember Virtua Fighter 2 kids? Pretty much VF2 but with big head mode on. Still can't believe that was its own game.

Think your right about that, played through Daytona again for nostalgias sake on the Xbox 360 few years ago, original arcade game must be decent bit over 20 years old now.....those were the days,I had a damn site more hair then I seem to remember aswell :)

Oh the arcade will surely be that.

I kind of miss the days of arcades, just really went the way of Sega's hardware!

Then you had fighters megamix, which was the best 3d fighter of the time. I never liked tekken.

Absolutely. Funnily enough I still have my Saturn out and was playing Fighters Megamix with a mate only last week. I find it pretty odd that Sega haven't rehashed that for XBLA/PSN especially after they've put others on there like Daytona, VF2 etc. It was and still is a brilliant game, would just be nice to play it with a higher res.

Indeed, I have Daytona CCE and VF Kids. Have all the vehicles unlocked on Daytona CCE, even the two horses as well. Pretty bizarre racing around the tracks with the horses :)

Was also playing Nights, with the special '3D controller'. It's a good game but that analogue pad destroys my thumb even to this day. I always remember that being the only pad that made my thumb sore when I was younger.
