The server browser in Battlefield 2

I just got BF2 today and i'm finding the server browser utterly insufferable.

It doesn't actually seem to filter what i want properly, the ping times are meaningless (i join a server with a ping anywhere from 0 to 80 and i'll still get booted for my 300+ ping) and trying to add a server to my favourites simply doesn't work.

I didn't install gamespy because if i actually found a server it'd be full by the time BF2 finally loaded.

Is there anything i can do to get reliable ping times and the ability to actually compile a favourites list of the UK servers i can find?

Not really. The main thing everyone complains about since BF2 was released was how bad the server browser was. Bear in mind though that what you see is still better than it was when it was first released as a couple of patches have tweaked it.

DICE have always really struggled with menus.

That sounds ridiculous but it's true.
