The Simpsons.... time to end it

I think its gone very downhill too, Family Guy relies far too much on random crap to be funny aswell.

South Park is the cleverest animated comedy in my eyes. Futurama was brilliant in its day too.

Well if they are watching it because their is nothing better on , it obviously makes it the best thing on tv at that time. So why would you moan about the best of the worst? why not complain about the other rubbish programs which you chose not to watch instead.

Because this thread is about the Simpsons?

err well done. But the point is that people are watching it because they still really enjoy it or they watch it because its better then what else is on... so either way why would you get rid of it for these people just because you personally don't like it?

I agree it's not as good as it used to be but I still watch it :) Admittedly more as something in the background. As it is now I would say that Futurama is better.

American Dad and Family Guy is okay but never something I have specifically sat down to watch.

Taste? :p

The reasons Simpsons started to blow is because a lot of the decent writers left after season 9, and that is exactly when it started going downhill.

Season 10 was pretty good considering, but the new ones barely ever raise a smile.
As said above the voice actors barely seemed interested.

New American Dad is pretty poor as well :( The best episode will always be Tearjerker.
Anything with Roger is comedy gold!

It has been said time and time again that after season 8 it went down hill :(

Just because its been said a lot doesn’t make the fact it needs to be canned any less relevant

South Park >= Futurama > Simpsons > Seth MacFarlanes stuff.

I used to kind of like Family Guy, up until the episode in South Park that described how Family Guy was written, then it made me realise how crap it actually was lol.

Always been mediocre, though it has had a few moments. But as they say, throw enough **** something is bound to stick.

Family Guy is far worse. The entirety of its humour relies on "this reminds me of the time when..." *cut to something utterly random*.

They both have some laughs, but they have never been a patch on some of the classic Simpsons stuff before it went all to pot.

Futurama was fantastic. Not as impressed by the newer stuff but it is still better than AmericanFamilyDad - to borrow a phrase! :p

I watch old Simpsons all the time, at least everyday and honestly some of them are just genius!

Homie the Clown is one of my favourite episodes ever!

You can tell by how enthusiastic the voice actors are how interested they're in it. Even in like series 16 or 15 they'd do it for 2 hours every Friday and you could tell they're bored. However they get something stupid like $400,000/episode...

The latest series is just dire, the stories are very incomplete because they're hacked around in places. One of the charms about the older episodes is that you can easily watch them again and again which sadly the later ones lack.

I don't think a non sequential programme like the Simpsons can ever run out of ideas, it's just that there are those that use them better e.g. Family Guy.
