The Simpsons.... time to end it

Some episodes are ok but in general it is going downhill but IMO Family Guy has dropped even faster, it's just not funny in the slightest any more and filled with random time fillers just to take up the 21 minutes or so it is on.

Ugly Americans was decent, not sure if that is broadcast in the UK or not though and there was only a handful of episodes. South Park is still the best IMO although the series are much shorter and spaced out compared to the likes of The Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad/The Cleveland Show

Heck yes, Roger is absolutely amazing.

I cant think of anything at all that wouldnt be better with Roger in it.

Roger as the Joker?
Roger as Flash Gordon?
Roger as Maveric in Top Gun?

Roger as Peter Griffin? cant be too far away.............

Roger is the new Jack Nicholson.

I agree that it has come to an end, but I don't understand how Family Guy, American Dad or any of the other turgid crap that people are saying cracks them up is doing it for them. The Simpsons already did everything, that's why it should stop.

All the others are pale imitations.

Watching some episodes recently I 'm starting to think that it's time to stop. It's been great while it's lasted but it's pretty clear that the writers are out of ideas. I just don't find it funny anymore, Family Guy on the other hand still cracks me up.
You still find Family Guy funny? Jesus.

The scale should read as follows:

'Old' Simpsons (i.e. anything predating Season 7 or 8 that isn't the more children-orientated Season 1) > (...hell of a lot of other T.V. shows...) > 'New' Simpsons > (...hell of a lot more other T.V. shows...) > Family Guy before its first cancellation > American Dad's 1st Season > (...some other ****fests...) > Family Guy season 4 onwards.

The newer Simpsons have been good to okay, it's really been hit-and-miss with the ratio declining in favour of latter more and more. People are missing that it is likely to survive as long it has Seth MacFarlane's spawn to compete with though, which actually amaze me with their awfulness. I nearly watch episodes to laugh at how badly its written now as opposed to genuinely finding it funny much earlier on.

Older Simpsons is gold, as in almost perfectly structured, acted, and written. Shame most of the writers moved on or became producers.

The new, post cancelation Futurama is actually quite good. The same cannot be said of Family guy, nor of the simpsons.

Yeah, haven't caught a lot of the new ones but it seems to be breaking a bit of the 'rules' regarding degradation over time. :D

I know I sound like an old record, but The Simpsons went downhill from around Seasons 10-12.
It's been crap for about 10 years now :(

Watch American Dad instead, the latest episode was so hilarious I lolled all the way to 1:30AM last night :p
AD overtook FG a while back.

its still not as bad as...

Brian "hey peter remember the time you <insert activity> with <insert celebrity> last <insert period of time>"

*see thing just described happen*

rinse, repeat.

but atm American Dad=Futurama >>>> simpsons >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> family guy

I think most people have grown out of it, the current kids probably love it. I prefer family guy and south park, but they can still be pretty bland at times.

Old Simpsons was fantastic, the newer stuff is pretty poor in comparison.

I've seen the odd episode of American Dad, got a laugh now and then. Family Guy used to be pretty funny, but now it's just the same obnoxious and crude jokes repeated over and over.

South Park has some fantastic episodes, and it's at it's best when it takes something from everyday life (WoW, Facebook, Homeless people) and adds its own little twist while taking the **** out of it. Then again i find most of the episodes that revolve around cultural/societal taboos to be pretty poor.

Futurama has some fantastic characters, with get a fair few laughs, i really should watch more of it.

The Simpsons and Family Guy have both run their course imo. Let them die with dignity.

Neither can now, The Simpsons is like a great Shakespearean actor that delved into porn in the Autumn of his career, and Family Guy... well, Family Guy never had a golden age anyway.

The thing with South Park is that you have to keep on top of what's going on the US. It makes it much funnier if you actually know what they're taking the **** out of :p

I think thats one of the main failing points of shows like South Park & Family Guy, international appeal. Large parts of such shows are based around american humour and culture, and sometimes it just doesn't carry across well to other countries. Of course it works the other way around, i'm sure there are British shows that Americans can't stand. It's rare to have any show that appeals worldwide, and with consistency, such as the Simpsons back in the day.

The same could be said of almost all US shows..

Although having just watched Robot Chicken's Star Wars Episode III, Robot Chicken ****es all over the others. Absolutely fantastic. Except having Stewie Griffin as Palpatine..

Meh, I disagree.

Relying too much on current affairs in writing can be seen as a bit of a crutch rather than an integral part of sitcoms or adult animation.
