... has really started to annoy me. What the hell were they thinking?

Why the **** make such a ****y super low budget ad, and then play it constantly on prime time TV?
Who the **** is going to watch that advert, and have an urge to buy Sketchers trainers? Its had the opposite effect on me. I will make sure I never buy anything by them.

How many other trainers do you see advertised? Annoying or not, it's drilling the sketchers brand into our minds quite well, and they're not *that* bad trainers, though never bought some myself :p

Typical UK thing - Moan all the time.

If you dont like it, dont watch it or change the channel. The ad is working on you hence your thread. :D

In all fairness....BIG DEAL its an advert! sure you don't take the same approach to Cillit bang? or any other thing that is constantly advertised on television?

Dodgy american dim teeny soap kind of thing with 'OH NO! YOUR SKETCHERS!'

*shudders*

Its actually reached a point that I have to change the channel when it comes on. MTV is the biggest offender, they have some really awful adverts. It must be cheap to broadcast with them...

i vaguley remember seeing a sketchers ad recently
I tend to zone out when the adverts start...

Although props must be given for the really long SOAP trailer just after they announced the winner on BB. Quality placement.

apparently men star in the new tampax advert?

They're bringing out a 'manpon' soon.

i hate adverts altogether
but we cant complain, we still sit there and watch them!

Exactly, i must admit, i turn over SOMETIMES but most of the time we all just sit through them watching so they are doing their job in all fairness!

But it made sense when cillit bang did it. Its a consumable item, which is bought frequantly. In a supermarket, you dont really think that much when your looking for stain remover, so you pick up the item that you know best, which is where cillit bangs ad is successful.

But to advertise footwear in the same way is just illogical. They must have so really stupid marketing people.

Why? i don't see how their 'marketing people' can be stupid when they are using a medium to promote their product that will reach millions of people...surely that is good marketing?

Yes, thats the general point of advertising. But the way you advertise projects an image of your business to your potential buyers. So what Sketchers have done is show me that they are cheap, and have an acute lack of taste, if they did, they wouldnt have produced and broadcasted such rubbish. Hence my point that the marketing people are stupid.

how is the skethchers advert any different than the way that people like adidas and nike get bonehead footballers to advertise their products in a mindless manner? surely that is worse? trying to play an image into the youth of todays mind that by buying a certain football boot you can be as 'good' as wayne rooney (good used in a very loose term as i think the guy is a complete thug who just happens to be able to knock a ball in an oversized net).
