I'm fairly sure a lot of you here have a similar passion for music as me, I really couldn't live without it. What's the one song that you'll never forget though? The song you'll hear in 20 or 30 years time and still love it just as much as you do now?

I can usually never decide with things like this, there's so much good music around and it's pretty hard to pick just one track, but i'm pretty certain with 'The Verve - Lucky Man'. No matter how many times I hear it I still can't actually get over how well produced it is, the combination of meaningful and profound lyrics with amazing melodies. I'll never forget it.

Robbie Williams - Angels. it's such a fit song. remyndz me of all da tymz we *** get rekd and dis *** cum on at da end of da nyt.

There's two that really stand out for me:

Natural Anthem by The Postal Service:Ahhh I remember it well: 5.30ish am on a saturday night after seeing the Plump DJ's destroy Sankey's in Manchester. I was heavily intoxicated and feeling the love when my friend put the entire album. By the time it got to Natural Anthem I was already totally engrossed and by the end of it I felt like I was on a different level completely. The song never gets old after a good few years of listening to it.

The second is already a recognised classic: Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was sat watching Top of the Pops 2, probably about 10 years ago now when they played a live version that they'd recorded for the BBC. It spanned on for 15 minutes of the 30 minute show. Utterly.Mind.Blowing.Stuff! I'd heard the song a few times before that but never really noticed it till that moment. Finest rock song of all time by far.

There are way too many songs which I'd happily put with the above, each one with a different story for how I found it. Scarily I remember the first time I'd heard songs like the above like I'd just this second finished listening to them for the first time (mindblowing comes to mind). Daft Punk's "Emotion," Orbital's "Halcyon + On + ON," Blind Melon's "Soul One" (or just about anything they ever did!), Andy C's "Bodyrock," Squarepusher's "Beep Street," the list really is quite massive. Thank God for talented genius's out there keeping folks like me very happy indeed. I would happily give everything else in the world up if I had to do so to keep listening to the songs/ bands I love.

Moby - Go. I had heard it a couple of times when it was released but didn't know what it was, then, several years later, it was played at a rave I was at and I think I had a religious experience, it was ecstasy.

semisonic - secret smile , not my usualy rock/metal song i usually listen to but just love the song.

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

Used to be obsessed with this song, would listen to it over and over again (and for that matter the whole of Superunknown), never getting sick of this song. I then didn't much listen to any Soundgarden for a good few years, but have gone back and listened to their stuff since Audioslave formed. And this song is still as perfect as it ever was, and is now a permanant fixture in most of my playlists, 12 years on from the first time I heard it, and I can see the same happening again in another 12.

Ryan Adams - La Cienega Just Smiled

Probably my favourite song of all time, has never gone for long between plays, and has racked up an almost embarrasing number of plays (even since my last reformat). And even after 5 years of listening to it with extreeme regularity, when it comes on I will always listen to it all through, enjoying it every bit as I did the very first time. I have no doubt I will still be listening to this for years to come.

Erm............. 2unlimited- Theres no limit............i erm, got laid for the first time while that was on :o

As for songs that are great because of the fact i actually like them:

Queen- Breakthrough
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child of mine
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Born to Run
Duran Duran - Hungry like the wolf
Oasis - Dont look back in anger.
Manic Street Preachers- Design for life.
George micheal - Freedom.

Brilliant song

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
Honourable mentions for JoyDivision with Love will tear us apart and the Buzzcocks with Ever Fallen in Love...

Bombtrack - Rage Against The Machine

First 'rock' song I really took a liking to back in the early 90's, and it started me on a journey of rock/metal discovery where otherwise I may well have ended up being into Happy Hardcore or Yodelling.

some joy division (love will tear us apart, she's lost control)
some postal service (such great heights, nothing better, the district sleeps alone tonight, natural anthem)
south - paint the silence
some libertines
bloc party - silent alarm

Pink Floyd High Hopes
Sometimes in summer I hear church bells echoing off the fort walls, I think it's Rochester Cathedral calling sinners for a slice of holy pie. And the echo sounds just like bell in High Hopes - ding - ding, every single time I can almost feel the piano intro in the air and it rises every hair on my body...

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
though down this road we've been so many times
