The Sony "Hayabusa" Thread

It doesn't really show off anything next gen as all that can be done on current phones like the S2 without a problem. Stuff that does impress in gallery apps is active animated thumbnails for videos, all of them, at once! like on the Galaxy S3 gallery app.

Still, that Sony gallery for picture viewing is impressive.

I wondered how long it would take you to mention your lovechild.;) - Not sure the SII would be quite that slick/smooth but I understand it has the capabilities to run it ok.

Well why wouldn't I mention it :p It does everything fast and smoothly! (if you meant the S2). The gallery on the Sony looks like the natural evolution to Gallery3D as found on the S2 and other phones. I wouldn't be surprised if it indeed is. Gallery3D runs smooth on all Android phones of the past year sporting dual cores and has funky animations to boot so I don't see what you're trying to get at really!

Maybe they're sitting back and just watching the competition and going one step better to this phone :p The UI does look quite nice and smoothness should be standard across the board these days on all handsets so that's a plus too going by the above videos.

mrk: I'm talking about animated movie thumbnails in a grid view (scalado album app does it with animated giffs, not quite the samething but works really well)
Quickpic is miles better than gallery3D, everyone should try it out!

Possibly, they usually start selling phones announced at CommunicAsia in August.

(We might end up getting a 1.7GHz S3 powered version or just the bizarre Jap special Arco S/HD instead :D)

I shall pretend to understand the last bit, ive literally got no idea what the heck those are, based on the wording, im assuming the Jap version is the kick arse and the S3 version is a dummed down version?

Always behind the curve
Have only just started to get comfy with Android
Release their phones with the previous version of Android
Slow with updates (though other companies aren't much faster)
Their idea of flagship is ~6 months
The XS has the worst performing battery I have ever witnessed
XS is nigh impossible to answer the phone at times because the slide bar won't register your touch properly

This is coming from an X10 and XS user :D:p

TBH I do like my XS, the screen is fantastic. The only reason I would consider jumping to a GS3 is the battery, not sure I can manage two years of losing almost 30% between leaving home and arriving at work (approx. 1 hour).

We know by now that the Sony Xperia GX (SO-04D), that is due to land in Japan very soon, is likely to make an international appearance under the Sony LT29i model number and is codenamed ‘Hayabusa’.
Below we have what is believed to be the first live pictures of the device itself. It looks like an early production model to us as it still carries the Sony Ericsson logo on the top of the phone.
The handset itself looks almost identical to the Sony Xperia GX, although there are a few tell-tale signs that this is different.

First of all the Xperia GX has the NTT DoCoMo logo on the top and the Sony logo on the bottom.
This LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ has the Sony logo on the top and the Xperia logo on the bottom, which presumably lights up.
Additionally, the Hayabusa doesn’t have the FeliCa logo just under the LED flash, unlike the Xperia GX.
The ‘About’ screen of the phone also pegs the handset as the LT29i running Android 4.0.4 and firmware version 7.0.A.1.155.
Hopefully the leak points to a nearing formal announcement of the phone.
