*** The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Thread ***

here we go again! handwarmers for winter?

Be interesting to see how the 6P ends up...

*edit* looks like this may be a headline grabbing nonsense story typical of PA so take with pinch of salt!

I would have expected with the phones now shipping and in peoples hands that if there were a recurrence of such a big problem there would be a few more comments/stories floating around?

The video they've thrown in there has nothing to do with the rumours lmao
Even the uploader of that video in the YouTube comments has said he's experienced no overheating.

He just seems to have a faulty device.

Not sure if this was/is the same as the link above but this report appears to suggest some overheating issues with the compact! :(

"The Xperia Z5 Compact is the subject of reports from China saying that the device is running hot. It appears that when it begins getting too hot the screen gets sluggish and causes a problem with registering touch input. In fact some users report that the issue is severe enough that sometimes the handset doesn’t register touches at all. The reports also mention that some owners of the device are attempting to solve the problem by rebooting the Z5 Compact, but find this doesn’t always work."

Reports ********.

I cant necessarily speak for overheating

However the thing aout registering touches is unrelated, and simply seems to be unfortunately a faulty device or software issue.

Phonearena basically ran an article (Which they've since deleted after being called out) on the overheating and conveniently put a video in regarding the touch issue that somebody put on Youtube and then proceeded to claim it was related to overheating reports.

The Uploader changed the video title and said:D
Phonearena linked video without proof, not caused by overheating!

They further said they've not experienced any overheating in the comments.
+StealthNinjaX2 oh yeah, don't get me wrong... Its very unfortunate =( but once replaced /repaired it's an amazing phone.... That what I meant... The touch issue really sucks but other than that Sony did a great job, no overheating, good performance amazing camera etc =) I was afraid It was gonna be a fire risk at first lol

Its simply, as usual, poor journalism from Phonearena.

Am I right in saying that the best place to buy the phone SIM-free at the moment is from Sony themselves at £429?

Three's retention department have offered me a 12-month sim-only deal including unlimited texts, minutes and 4GB of data for £9 p/m making the 24 month cost £645 as opposed to the best new contract total I've found of £767.76 (£31.99 p/m with EE for unlimited minutes, texts and 5GB of data)

Does anyone know of any better deals out there for this phone with at least 4GB data??

Clove are out of stock atm until 7th, Amazon still say 22nd October - Not sure why they are taking so long to ship...

Pulled the trigger on the Clove deal including the free headphones! :)

According to the guy there they are still expecting to ship tomorrow so delivery for Thursday with any luck.

*crosses fingers*

Spoke to them and confirmed this too. If not, I'm buying from Giffgaff as Carphone Warehouse refused to sell the phone to me

Weird, I was in there on Saturday or Sunday and they had the handset for sale at £449.99 like it's advertised on the website here.

Yep, its on sale in-store too. Showing contract, Pay and Go and Sim Free prices. When I asked to purchase it Sim Free they told me a load of rubbish.

I suppose it's possible that they only have a limited supply with it being brand new and don't want to take the chance of running out and not being able to fulfill a new contract order! (i'm sure they make a fair amount more on a 24 month contract sale than the SIM-only price!)

Not 100% sure they can legally refuse to sell you something when it's advertised but I'd be inclined to not buy from them anyway - especially as Clove are cheaper and include the free Sony headphones!

Why not just buy it online? They also have an option to collect instore. How can they refuse you then :p
