The OcUK Kent Meet 2005
Saturday 12th March 2005
1pm Onwards
Maidstone, Kent
General Info
Due to popular demand from people in London and the South East, an oppertunity for you to meet fellow OcUK'ers has been arranged.
The schedule is as follows
Friday night
People staying overnight will be arriving at various times we'll officially meet from about 7pm onward at The White Rabbit (at least thats when I'll be there)
At about 10.00 we will leave to go clubbing at a local indie club The Loft (closes @ 4am) There is no dress code, this is an indie club, so its combats or jeans and a T-Shirt. Don't bother dressing up you will feel a bit out of place (trainers are expected)
Saturday
Morning - I suggest you all recover but if I'm up I'll happily arrange something like go for a wander along to river or show you where the shops are.
1pm onwards - Meet at the White Rabbit Public House, Maidstone. Drinks, light lunch and socialising (get to know your fellow OcUK'ers)
3.30pm - Bowling at AMF Bowling Maidstone
Then back to the ranch for wash and scrub up
7.30 pm - Food Old Orleans
Evening - Drinking and more socialising possibly moving to Frankie and Benny's next door or a bar with a late licence
Late evening - Back to MB's for a quiet night of playstation, chat and music. Note: this will NOT be a full blown house party, I have neighbours with a small child. If you want to party on down and shake you funky stuff then ask and I will suggest a club, there are two on the same site as Old Orleans
For those traveling from afar there are a number of places to stay, many people are already booked into The White Rabbit pub, however other establishments are available.
A smaller gathering is organised for the Friday night for those who wish to attend. This will take place at the White Rabbit so anyone who arrives late can join us there up to 10pm when the party will be visting a local indie club as mentioned above.
(This is an over 18s meet for the usual reasons of safety and the duty of responsibility which would be placed on those attending to look after minors.) We MAY be willing to accept 2 or 3 16/17 year olds for JUST the bowling but please ask first, and note that NONE of us will buy drinks for you.
There is a deposit payable for the bowling which I will put up, once I know how many people are coming, please only add yourself to the list once you can confirm you will definately attend, so I don't end up out of pocket! Price for the bowling will be around £15 for 3 games including shoe hire
If you have any questions about room sharing or hitching a lift with an attendee, please feel free to post them here or you can contact me directly.
FOOD
Old Orleans as voted for by your fellow OcUkers - cocktails, burgers, steaks and massive desserts the usual fare.

Maidstone from the M20
The White Rabbit Including Maidstone East Station
Directions by Road
The easiest way to get to Maidstone for those traveling from London or around the M25 is to use the M20 coastbound. This can be picked up about 2 miles from the Dartford crossing if you are traveling clockwise (those coming anti-clockwise will need the M26 which merges into the M20 before Maidstone.
I would suggest junction 6 as the best exit from the M20 to get to the White Rabbit, you will need to keep you eyes open as you approach junction 6, the motorway has a barrier starting just after J5 and you need to be in the left hand lanes or you will not be able to get to the exit for J6. If you do miss it however you can easily go to J7 (just 1 mile further on) and turn around. At the exit of J6 take the 3th exit (just after the one to re enter the motorway) and proceed under the motorway to another roundabout. Here you will take the second exit and join a duel carridgeway. Not far now You will come to a second roundabout which again you will go stright across (2nd exit) go past the garage on you left and as you approach the next roundabout you will see the White Rabbit on your left it looks like this!
Take a left at the roundabout (NOT UP THE TAXI AND BUS LANE THAT REALLY ANNOYS ME WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT! and the turn left again after the pedestrian crossing, the entrance (at the back of the building) will be directly on your left. There is a large carpark which is free to residents all day.
From the Station
Wow this is an easy one.
Arriving from the London direction you will exit the station at the bottom of an access road with a taxi rank. Ignore the taxis, you don't need 'em. Walk up the road towards the huge white building (County Hall). On reaching the top cross the road, turn left and continue walking. You will pass the main sorting office on your left and come to a roundabout. The White Rabbit its directly in front of you over the roundabout and opposite Clarkes Funiture Store.
I will be issueing an emergency contact number nearer the time, but it won't be posted here. If you think you might need it then drop me a line
