The Stoke-On-Trent Thread

I've not seen anyone say that they're born and raised in the Meir yet. I suppose not many survive never mind make it out alive... It took years of planning and a very long tunnel for me to get out ;)

Nothing much wrong with Stoke, every place has their bad points. Always glad to be home :)

Although whoever said it always seems to be grey skies when you pull onto the A500, especially northbound is correct.

Amazing. A six page thread on Stoke and they Stoke's greatest assets still haven't mentioned.

Step forward Mr Taylor, Mr Lewis and Mr Hamilton.

I can take this title...kinda. We moved to Longton (Meir Hay) when i was around 6 (1991), then went up in the world and moved to Stone in 99, lived here since but currently just in the process of buying my own place back in good old Meir Hay. Would have liked to have stayed in Stone if im honest, however £140k (my budget) buys you a tiny 2 bed semi or somewhere slightly larger but run down.

Just remember that Meir is divided into 4 very different parts.
There is Waterhead Road side that can be quite nice and Broadway isn't too bad where I have many friends.
There is Brookwood Drive which is a bit rougher and I must know at least 100 people on there.
And then we have our own 'Shameless' which is the Grangewood/Harrowby Road and even I'm scared to step in that side to visit cousins.

Wagon & Horses in Meir was great on a Friday and Saturday night.

Gigged there many a time and watched loads of bands.

One of the scariest moments was in the pub opposite The Waggon & Horses called The Kings Arms.
I was gigging in there one night when a lot of the Malbon Family were in there and about 12 blokes with ski masks and baseball bats came in and started laying into them (it was probably the Reece's).
We stopped playing and old man Malbon ordered us to carry on :D
Now if you don't know the Malbon's or Reece's then you don't know Meir.

And then there was the Tiger Moth on Sandon Road, oh God help me.

I was a Broadway boy but have family on the Brookwood Drive estate. There is actually a street in Meir called Chatsworth Place...that used to be very shameless like!

Haha the Malbons, ain't heard that for while !

I live 5 mins from the where the legendary Shelleys used to be. Next to a store called under the arches where I purchased my muscle men from :p

Also can anyone remember wassys market?
