A giant starfish is only the enemy for the last ten minutes of the film technically... Lol..

Before that it's budget Fidel Castro and his utterly incompetent military.

I know it's not really supposed to be taken too seriously - But (for example)
they have three prisoner transfer trucks when they are show to have captured Rick Flag, Bloodsport and Peacemaker...and put them all together in one truck.
 
Wasn't terrible.

Story was all over the show and a lot of jokes fell flat.

Hollywood yet again can't give us a villain worth a dam.......

Thought Idris was cool!! Ratcatcher 2 was also awesome.
 
I'm not even sure who was the villain in this honestly. There were a number of low level "bad guys" and obviously whatever her name is who runs the Suicide Squad but it was just all a bit meh. What was the point in Capaldis character really. You could have picked anyone from any scene in the film to play that "role" and it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. What was with the jazz on his head. Feels like another one of those things where he played a much larger role and was basically cut down to almost nothing in post.
 
Mess of a movie really. On one level its a bit sad that movies like this get made and suck so much budget. I mean it wasn't completely unenjoyable but I don't really know what sort of movie it is. Comedy, slasher/horror, super hero, sci-fi? Idris Elba didn't really fit in with the comedy premise. John Cena in his pants? Margot Robbie could have saved it but such a limited script for her to work with. Capaldi's character was irrelevant. Pretty poor all round.

Shes an average actress but very pretty. That covers a lot of film stars to be honest.

Glad to see it wasn't just me that found the film a bit crap. No idea why its had such high praise. The last one didn't and there isn't much between the two.

Yup, without her looks she would probably be a background actor at best.

I'll give it props for being the movie he wanted to make, vs the first one which originally was going to be a dark serious movie that changed drastically in tone once they seen the money Deadpool raked in. The amount of reshoots and edits the first movie had was comical, there were rumoured to be several versions being edited at the same time all with very different styles thanks to a large chunk of the movie being reshot. Yet another dc movie that had far too much meddling from the beancounters which seems to be the main difference between marvel and dc, marvel movies seem to let the director get on with it, dc movies seem to have a committee scrutinizing everything constantly.

Erm, that is the exact opposite.

Marvel works because they don't let directors do that so much. Marvel have a brand that is currently working thst they want to keep working. That's why most marvel movies feel almost like they are made by the same person.

Not the impression i get, the original suicide squad movie was a good example, initially it was a darker movie, then they seen how well Deadpool did. Next thing we know there's a new trailer for suicide squad showing it to be suddenly much goofier and jokey, thanks to a ton of reshoots and numerous edits, a lot being done concurrently. Obviously the bean counters got a sniff of what deadpool accomplished on a comparatively tiny budget and hoped they could do the same if they reshot and edited enough of the movie.
 
i understand your point about deadpool perhaps changing suicide squid 1, but definetly DC are far more loose than marvel.

James gunn comments about guardians and the suicide squad show that. he was allowed to do pretty much whatever he wanted on suicide squad, where as guardians, people say doesn't feel like any other james gunn movie because it's a marvel restricted movie.

it's actually something i wish DC would do as they totally feel like they have no direction.

Star wars too, i wish the sequels had a single direction from 7-9, not this changing directors non sense.

Star Wars are best forgot about, hiring a literal nobody like Rian Johnson just ****** everything up that was set up in the best of the last 3 movies ep7. I've no idea how he managed to do what he did, must have had pics of Kathy Kennedy in a compromising position with a Donkey.
 
Isn't everything bombing? People just arent going back to the movies like before the pandemic.

I love the cinema, I have an Odeon Limitless card.....the last movie I saw was that rubbish x-men spinoff in August 2020.

Also if people think James Gunn feels so restricted at Marvel, why is he going back to make GOTG 3?
 
Initially had high expectations after some early positive reviews but this was brought back down after seeing more reviews in here. It was OK, bit all over the place and a good few jokes didn't land.
