So most of us have had a few days to play through the campaign, im playing it through on hard and have come up agaist a brick wall.
On the Cybran "defend the nodes" mission, where you have to recapture the node held by the Aeon, as soon as you capture it, the operation area expands and you have another to defend.

I have held off capturing the 1st to give me time to amass a maximum size army, I get the maximum units reached message, so it's as many units as I can throw at defending the 2nd node. Problem is, that by the time my units reach the 2nd node it's allready been destroyed and mission is failed :(

Anyone completed this mission yet? any pointers would be great.

What sort of units are attacking the node?

I got upto this mission yesterday but havent started it yet, doing it on normal atm.

Usual tactics really, set up a ferry point, take your army of (things that kill the things there using) and go, you could try getting your troops in place before the other node is exposed? divide and conquer

Seems to be mainly land units that attack the node, the problem is that as soon as the map expands they start attacking it. You can only get your troops as close as u can before the map opens up then send them in as soon as it opens, which is as soon as you secure the 1st node.
On hard difficulty at least, there seems to not be enough time, no where near enough time.
But I shall try, try and try again. Im sure the different difficulty modes only adjust the resources, giving you less money in essence. Im not sure if it alters the A.I or not, maybe someone who played the Beta will know more?

What I want to know is do those quantum gates do anything other than produce a support commander

Also you could crack the multiplayer beta and play hours of skirmish missions with all 3 factions, on massive maps with up to 8 AI players

heh, those maps are nothing comapred to the size of some of the maps in the game

Have you tried using transports to get your units there in time? or gunships to take them down nice and swiftly (excuse me if these units aren't available yet, i haven't got this far... and was leaving the cybrans to last :))

dont have gun ships at this part of the game no. Still on tech1 air.

also i didnt crack the beta because... thats bad... and you could have had your account suspended and i wanted to keep my account name!
Which i have.

attack bombers then
they own VS ground troops
fast ish (faster than most ground)

Is there a way to automate the picking up and dropping off, of ground units via the air transports.
So when they come out of the factory the transport picks them up, flys them over the ocean, drops them off and rinse and repeat.
Very tedious to do it manualy, im sure it can be automated some how?

yes you make a ferry point with the transports then as you would normalally when setting rally points for your factories but just click on the ferry point.

works quite well

What account name?

i downloaded the beta... got a key from some place... altered sum files... played skirmish... never played it online or made an account

all you have to do is change some options in the set up files to get full access to skirmishes in the beta, all sides, all tech, full AI

Well see i got a beta key so i could play it online with my mates, and you still need a GPG account to do the rankings and stuff.

one of the tutorials videos shows you how to do it, although i always have problems getting it up and running

they just give you support commanders when built in game if pre built they're part of the mission either protect/get stuff in to it/ etc etc

Same here, Fluked it once, but cant repeat it, i'll watch the videos again but if anyone knows what to do key by key and could post it p, that would be great :)

Get your air transport in the position you want it to start from, press F, select the destination, either right or left click. select a factory or units, then hover the mouse over the purple ferry icon by your transport that should have come up after you selected your destination then right click when it turns into the yellow load icon and your done. you can then select more stuff either factories units or more transports and click on the purple ferry icon and they will join in.

^^ that's how i was doing it originally and it would do it once or not at all? i had to hold down shift then click at the start and the destination (so a purple dashed line was visible on the map), then add units to the queue as you describe. it took a bit of fiddling though!
