Hi Folks

just thought i would do a bit of a write up on my new keyboard.
recently got a logitech G19 to replace my G15 and found the keys very stiff and unresponsive. as with all logitech boards, it was good for gaming but actually typing on it became very tiresome indeed.

Got a Razer Black Widow this weekend and must say, it is a lot better than i expected. the keys are nice and typing is a doddle on it. the feature set is a little below par compared to the G19 but i have realised that i dont need all the gaming gimmicks to use my computer.

the only thing i will miss is the Ventrillo app on the G19, the logitech boards integrate well with the service and it is handy to know who is in the channel especially when its busy. but at the loss of that i have gained the ability to type fast again as well as a much smaller keyboard layout.

my research lead me to look further into mech boards and i was tempted to wait for the ultimate board to be released as it has the backlight, but overall the standard Elite black widow is very nice.

still getting used to it and personally would like to have seen a wrist rest included in the package, there is certainly a lot of argument for the transition and i think a lot of users would appreciate the tactile keys in comparison to the standard keyboards they use now.

if you are in the market for a new board and want something a bit special, i can highly reccomend the razer black widow.

Fair enough, I wonder how the Cherry mechanical boards compare to keyboards like the G15?

Off-topic:

Vent?! Pfffffffffft, no-one uses that anymore. Mumble has its own app on screen to tell you who's where :p

personally i cant see myself going back to a g15 or similar.
the keys on this board are a lot better and much more responsive both for gaming and typing.

as with any new keyboard it is taking a bit of getting used to.

i have had so many problems with this g15... the stock apps uninstall them selfs??? the space bar feels too "odd?" its a nice keyboard when it all works :D but i am getting a an "elite" razer black widow when i can ;)

Is the difference between non mechanical and mechanical that they don't use rubber to push the keys back up?

I've been interested in trying a new keyboard for a while, I have a Saitek Eclipse II at the moment, but I do really enjoy using my home theatre keyboard, although it has slim keys, they 'click' better...

I had a gaming keyboard years ago, a Logitech something or other. It was good but I didn't enjoy typing on it at all, and all the extra keys went unused. Got a load of Dell RT7D50 keyboards for work and it was like a revelation. I love typing on these so much I "procured" three of them for myself. They're just so nice and "clacky" ;) I have two still boxed ready for when they one I use gets worn out. Tbh I'd be supprises if I ever get tempted down the gaming keyboard path again... It would have to be a really special board

Personally I love how the razor keyboards are so alike to decent laptop keyboards, which I find to be by far the fastest to type on. I doubt I will ever have a keyboard or mouse that isn't razer again tbh unless they keep jacking the prices up any more. I am looking forward to when my mouse finaly bites the dust and getting the upgraded black adder instead. The mice and keyboards I got before never used to last 3 years of heavy gaming, this mouse has lasted 4 years.

The keyboard will last a life time because it doesn't have any keys written on it anyway because ocuk sent me the wrong keyboard and I got the "black" edition but couldn't send it back as it was a pressent that had gone past the 7 day send back thing. Stupid really. While I love the feel of the keys, I hate not being able to see them. While I am a very proficient touch typer, I often hit a 7 instead of an 8 etc.

Decided on blackwidow ultimate for that special *click*.Its expensive at £109 but this time im gonna cover it with something for dust. Its the one thing razer dont sell or bundle so i guess a branded towel is in order for the looks factor :)

Blackwidow ultimate
Razer nagu molten
razer goliath xl

Almost £200 of input gear for gaming for something which wont last 3 years perhaps which worries me a lot.My habu first went double click on me and this last week contantly flashes the led and locks up and i have to wait for a damm signal sigh.

Insanely nice gear which gives you 1ms on all inputs which when paired with low ping is as good as online gaming can get.I love thier gear its just a pity its very flimsy.I forsee trouble for me wanting RMA on the 3rd year for a £80 mouse which they will refuse :(

Ordered a Blackwidow on friday to replace my failing logitech wave keyboard :)

Looking forward to seeing how different\much better it is.

Is this a mechanical keyboard?

I'm guessing not at the price but cherry make a lot of mechanical keyboards.

This is like the Cherry Stream XT... but no definitive answer if they are mechanical :S do cherry do non mechanical keyboards?!? (unlikely they are mechanical seems very cheap... considering other keyboards i've looked at)

also can someone email me in trust where they get these Cherry/filco/ unicom keyboards in UK amazon dont seem to have good sellers bar a few cherry
