After seeing this video, I remembered why I love TED talks so much. They get lost a bit in other threads such as the Youtube thread and there are loads I've found both inspiring and profoundly moving.

So, this thread is for posting your favourite TED talks or just browsing what other people have liked.

I'll start with the video posted in the NK thread which inspired this, but there's a few I need to share.

Despite her best efforts, comedian Julia Sweeney is forced to tell a little white lie when her 8-year-old begins learning about frog reproduction -- and starts to ask some very smart questions.

Great thread :)

I love TED, seeing how enthusiastic and charismatic some of the speakers are about their subjects is pretty inspiring (notably Carolyn Porco for me, below)

Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it -- and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections.

In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert. But, as Susan Cain argues in this passionate talk, introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged and celebrated.

Ocean explorer Robert Ballard takes us on a mindbending trip to hidden worlds underwater, where he and other researchers are finding unexpected life, resources, even new mountains.

Planetary scientist Carolyn Porco shows images from the Cassini voyage to Saturn, focusing on its largest moon, Titan, and on frozen Enceladus, which seems to shoot jets of ice.

And a bit of magic is always nice :)

Keith Barry shows us how our brains can fool our bodies -- in a trick that works via podcast too. Then he involves the audience in some jaw-dropping (and even a bit dangerous) feats of brain magic.

I just came across these yesterday via the Ted app on my smart TV. I watched the one below -

Not a Ted Talk but a good pop-computing introduction into just what is possible through the powers of t'internet :D

I don't listen to enough classical music. On the upside, this thread is turning up some gems :)

One of my favourites, about education. Probably seen by a few people already here.

Also

A mash up of Sir Ken Robinson's ideas on education.

You could just merge the threads and add stars to the title. That'd require you to lose the odd honour of being the thread starter, though :( :( :(.

:o

Also the same as the Informative Videos thread which is mostly TED
