yip - £37.4k for my SR+ in 2019.... crazy stuff.

£36.4k trade in against MY.... world's gone mad.

My only regret was not ordering a LR back then as I thought the Model Y would be the natural upgrade a couple years later. Now realise it's just too much car for my use so will stick with the SR+ until either a compact appears or the prices start to slide.

Pipe dream is a Cybertruck but would prefer something smaller again. Still, can't hurt to be in the queue.

Another huge price increase last night.

M3 up to £46k
M3LR up to £55k (same as the MYLR)

To think I had an 3LR on order for £48.5k just 5 months ago
The model 3 LR with grey paint and 18" aero wheels is now the same cost as a model Y with grey paint and 19" gemini wheels.

Model 3 has a Nov 22 delivery est
Model Y has a Jul 22 delivery est

Pure madness!

Got my windows subtly tinted today, 55% on the front and 35% on the rear side. Not sure if I'll do the roof, as it's already pretty dark as it is if I got a full tint, and I'm not sure on the half tint looking out from the inside.

Looks great. We’ve just tinted a roof on one and you still have a difference in light throughput as it darkens the top, darker section further still. It’s got 5% on it - I can post a pic if it helps

Thanks, would be interested to see, but that is my worry as I have a black interior and I don't really want it any darker in there. The rear window now doesn't look weird as the tint on it starts at the same point as the rear side quarter windows so I'm thinking of just leaving it like that.

I've only just noticed, did you actually reverse into your garage door:p, bet the sensors were going crazy:cry:.

Funnily enough you're the second person to say that! I parked at a slight angle, and somehow it looks like I reversed into the garage. I do it to avoid wife/kids opening the Polestar doors on the car.

Have you tried reversing In the dark yet? Mine came with tints (used car) and its a bit **** when reversing and its dark. Visibility is a bit poor imo.

enjoy! Try not to get assimilated :D
I’m no cultist :)

I was happy to try a number of competitors EVs before ordering the 3. The i4 I wanted to like, but it felt like (and is) a shoehorned EV into an ICE platform, and it feels it. I possibly could have looked past that but my recent service experience with BMW makes me want to steer clear anyway.

The Audi Q4 was OK, but again EV on ICE was the dominant feeling, and I really don’t want an SUV. If the eTron GT started £15k cheaper, I’d be collecting one of those instead.

The Polestar was an interesting proposition, and was a close 2nd, but the exterior looks just seem wrong, it’s too tall, like a saloon on stilts. I really liked the interior though.

Hopefully some more saloon or estate options materialise before I replace the 3, so I’ve got more choice :)

Sounds like a similar situation to myself.

I've ordered a model 3, but still looking around. Like you, I wanted to like the i4 (going to test drive the M50 on Saturday), but when you add the optional extras it becomes £70k....bit more and you're in a poverty spec Taycan. Think the model 3 is just better value for money, and the thing is a doddle to use. That was another thing which annoyed me about the i4. When I asked the salesman various questions like spotify on the HUD, various questions about self-drive, parking, nav etc etc it was menu after menu after menu. I thought, this is the nightmare I have with the etron.

The tesla is pretty much all automated, when you want to park you don't have to press anything other than the little P, unlike the BMW where you have to tell it you want to auto-park. The tesla somehow knows. It's the same with the auto driving, it's just easier in the tesla.

Then he was a terrible salesman because thats just wrong. As a Model 3 owner I can 100% say I'd take BMW's iDrive over Tesla's every single day of the week. 'Self-drive' in the BMW' is basically distance controlled lane keep assist with steering, and its a button press on the steering wheel to activate. Automatic parking actually works in the BMW. If you use CarPlay or Android Auto you the option to use what Nav you want, but I found BMW's navigation to be superb especially within the HUD. And yes you can easily control Spotify (or any other media playback for that matter) via the HUD and the scroll wheels on the steering wheel. All leads to a far better experience (in my opinion) that stabbing at the touchscreen on the Tesla.

That said, for what I paid for my Model 3 LR back in December, it was still very hard to justify anything else by the time you've added options to other cars, so I absolutely know where you're coming from. But things being easier in the Tesla, nope, not the case.

Very interesting. My test drive is booked for this Saturday am so really looking forward to it. Easy of use is high up on my list of requirements. Do you know if the self-drive works when using google maps through android auto, or do you have to use the BMW nav?

Yes, still works. Just as long as your expectations are set on what these autonomous systems can/can't do though - even with the Tesla you can't put a post code in and expect it to drive you there, at least not until FSD comes to the UK and I can't see that happening for years and years, if ever.
