Interesting. :)

Do you know if TR40 with the new Threadrippers will support SAM?

Part of me wants to order one as soon as they go on sale but the sensible side is saying to wait for the Sapphire pulse or similar versions.

I think it's always going to be more sensible to wait, just depends on how long you're willing to wait. Seems retailers are squeezing people on the OC variants as a priority.

Its too bad really they're terrific engineers RDNA2 is a great framework going into the future I don't think people realise how well this is done. But they're terrible at marketing. Ok the cards aren't on sale until the 18th, fine, but why are there no reviews yet? You need to get it out there to give it a chance to sink in; let people compare, gain some mindshare: revealing a card and then silence for nearly 3 weeks is leaving a vacuum that only increases nvidia mindshare there may be no cards available but everyone knows exactly what they're getting. AMD? You only have official slides and... nada. You need to do better and maybe actually employ a marketing dept as well as an engineering one.
Hmmm I'm seeing it a bit differently

Lets face it, the internet exploded during this event. We were all taken away by the face that AMD were not just bringing the game to Nvidia, but coming in swinging. I am a team red fan at heart but I had my doubts AMD could do anything about the 30 series, let alone square up to the 3090 and say "come at me bruh" :D

And this hubbab is beginning to die down. Nvidia still cannot properly meet demand of the 30 series, so AMD have little worry about in that regard. The next thing will be to give it a bit more time (look at the benchmarks they keep releasing, yeah cherry picked etc but those numbers are coming from somewhere and they are a bit salivating, aren't they?) and then start releasing RT info. I don't think they've avoided saying anything during their conference because its crap compared to Nvidia. I think they have deliberately not said anything so they can focus the limelight on it properly, rather than get lost in the frankly in sane amount of hype there has been. Don't want it getting lost in the midst of it all!

Yes it does appear that the Radeon 6000 series scale better at lower resolutions than Ampere do. hmmm

I agree with this statement and just to add to this we are all waiting for benchmarks to see if AMD has managed to pull it off.

Yeah they hype has died down but I expect it to ramp up as we approach the embargo. Both from unboxing Videos and benchmark leaks once the cards start shipping to reviewers.

If reviewers confirm what amd is saying, especially with the 6800 beating the 3090 in certain Amd optimised titles I expect the hype to reach heights never seen before.

AMD don't really need to do anything if they were accurate with their benchmarks.

That's logical looking at the high cache / lower memory bandwidth. 4K will suffer more from the limited memory subsystem than 1440p, probably why nvidia seem to gain some ground. The cache can only go so far when your looking at loading large assets in and out of VRAM

Any updates on when the new AMD cards will be listed on OcUK? In the queue for a 3080 but strongly considering switching due to NVIDIAs cocking up of their launch.

Not that I have seen.

@Gibbo any ideas ?

Edit : I guess UK sellers may be putting off releasing the prices to reduce the possibility of cancelled 3080 / 3090 orders ....

Apart from offering refunds (if they've taken cash, I don't think that is normal) retailers aren't going to care. A sale is a sale assuming the margins are similar. If anything it relieves the pressure and resources from chasing up stock queries

I cant see any retailer sticking to recommended prices if demand is high, look at the 3090 and 3080 range, all over RRP. I just hope AMD have plenty of stock for demand so the prices are at least close to RRP.
its a shame AMD cant enforce the RRP buy saying we will only supply stock if sold at this to stop scalping.

one thing is for sure we dont want 2 to 3 month pre order waiting lists
