Edit: curious about powercolor too, tho even if the performance and cooler was great, 5000 series had a very high rate of return for warranty

Did they? Hmm I thought the red devils would have been reasonable enough, its gonna be tough deciding on a reference or wait for the Sapphire custom which could lag by a couple of weeks.

From experience of getting top end for multiple years.

Always wait and get the best card you can.

If you jump on the quickest you'll only wish you waited for the better card.

I jumped on 780 reference wish I waited.
I jumped on gigabyte 7970 wish I waited

Got free upgrade to 7990 though wish I didn't.

Got free upgrade to two 980s founders. Worked out well but aib might been better.

Upgraded to 1080ti aorus turned out to be crap.

Did my research this time we t with Asus 3090

You will always wish you got x for % more

According to more's law is dead channel the amd stock will have a number, but due to the situation nvidia created, they'll go fast. But aib will have a good number and I'll asume it's not talking about reference cards only

What's with the asus 3090?

Nothing wrong with the Asus 3090,
Almost the highest power limit best cooled 3090. Without mods.

By buying the 3090 saves me buying a titan/qaudro for work. Saving me thousands

1080ti in my work flow is always at 10.8GB used in my work flow for ai. So could use more vram.

Telsa at work uses almost its Ram but hmb2 is much faster

Yeah, what's the amd equivalent for 3090 work related stuff?
Fire pro
I either buy
AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 16GB 1.7k
AMD fire Pro 3k
nvidia 3090 1.6k
Nvidia telsa v1000 4k+
Nvidia qaudro (slower than 3090) 3k

So I either buy a work gpu and and a game gpu or buy one for both
And save money and get faster maths..

So it's a very Infirmed decision. If the 6900xt was 20gb I might of reconsidered

Thx, knew that gpu, never knew its use. On another note cyberpunk is using microsoft dxr and not nvidia's proprietary api. This brings me another question that we should probably have at least an idea next week maybe. The super sampling. Ray traced cyberpunk will be definitely possible on amd on a later patch, but how the fidelity fx will work? From rumors I could read it might work for almost all games unlike dlss
But that's just rumor, nothing solid

Soon to be 6900X? :D
Not on the edge if not enough vram for work usage..
For light medium work 16gb should be OK. But medium high test sets you need 18gb or hbm2.

6900xt 20-24gb would be great

I'm interested in trying to use gpu vram as a virtual disk for faster i/o maths.data sets

Imagine 8gb of extremely fast vram being used to read 8gb csv of maths data!

I run a 3600. Im on a vega 56. I need more grunt to run high 1440p or regular 4k on my display, a meaty GPU will take the brunt and the 3600 will be fine.

6800 all day for me. The ~£50 extra isnt really more when you consider AIB versions of the 3070 will be the same price anyway. It will probably clock well if your into squeezing it, or you will benefit from the extras over the long term (fine wine never been so good).

6800 for me too from vega 64
need a push to get my 1440p 144hz maxed out

no need to go over that though and don't want to upgrade my 650w psu - some games will run less (AC etc) but don't need over 100fps for single player

Thanks just had a sneak peak.

urgh I’m torn between the 6800 and the 3070. I run a 3600. Looking at the performance, would I better off going for the 6800 or 3070?

Yea that’s my thinking also. Sapphire 6800 is the goal I think. I run an ultrawide 1440p on a 5600xt and it’s time to upgrade!
