As I am sure you have seen Proshop in Denmark (not a competitor right as they won't ship to the UK at the moment) put out the following info about their AMD deliveries:

You are absolutely right there will be very, very few cards available. As it looks now, we get together for launch:
200 x RX 6800 AMD reference boards
90 x RX 6800 XT AMD reference boards
- When the AIB cards come from ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Powercolor etc, I fear we see very, very few cards and the whole delivery situation will not look good there either ....

Thats 290 cards compared to the still pathetic hundreds of 3070s and 3080s available on the first day, for all of Scandinavia.
Doesn't sound like it will be any better than the NVIDIA launch, perhaps worse.

I was just thinking, if in an alternative universe had AMD preempted the Ampere launch, both AMD and nvidia fanboys could have gotten hold of something..

Just tried the biggest Internet retailer in the world for the X Series: "Currently unavailable."

Oh, the irony. :D

For what's worth ms has managed the launch much better than all these seasoned and experienced idiots..And here I was thinking that WFH is once in a lifetime opportunity

I think there is unpleasant conflict of interest going on - the market is flooded with the old-gen Ryzen 3000 series and Radeon 5000 which no one should ever buy at those inflated prices, the stock will just sit there, and we will enter a vicious circle that has no escape solution.

It's completely unprecendented.

Its not really unprecedented. Its Christmas, people buy new tech. Remember the console wars in the 90s, or the scramble for those Frozen dolls when that film came out. These companies try to lay the blame on too much demand when its their own lack of supply that's the problem.

With the Nvidia 3000 series, even if demand was a tenth of what is was, there still wouldn't have been enough.

AMD know this as we're nearly two months down the line, yet they are potentially launching with 200 cards per supplier? Its a joke. What do they expect to happen?

How on earth is Steve of GN a shill? He goes into incredible detail on how he gets his results. Explains deeply, and to my eyes can replicate those results with everything on show, even in a live show when overclocking. He thinks nvidia are taking the pee with pricing and performance, so that makes him a shill?
He must have said something bad about AMD, hence the shill part. I like the guy and he seems genuine enough for me to watch his vids.

I'm hoping prices hold... As it stands looking and eBay sell prices I can sell my 5700XT for more than I bought it for!

Unfortunately it's to be expected as the GPUs are fourth in the pecking order behind the XBSX/PS5 and CPUs. The paper launch of the CPUs doesn't bode well for the GPU launch.
Sadly, it seems to be a sign of the times.

I was aiming at the limited edition 6900.. looks like it's going to be an unrealised dream, if that's true, lol :D

This is why im waiting til the new year to buy, stock shortage is going to mean stupid prices.

Got my Series X today and wifes ordered me Cyberpunk 2077, i also bought it for PC, i will stick to the console version for now and play the PC version in the new year when i upgrade
Stock won't be any better in the New year mate

Did I miss where the 200 gpu reference came from?

Yeah basically my quote where they will get:
200 x RX 6800 AMD reference boards
90 x RX 6800 XT AMD reference boards

Thats the same scandinavian retailer that was publishing their ordered/recieved stock.
Which is funny as they seem to have an open order, but also know exactly how many cards are coming -- I guess they don't extend that courtesy to their biggest partner in the UK.

Maybe it's because of the minks :D

Yeah just saw it on the news, they haven't been killing them properly and burying them alive, now they have found out that killing minks from non-impacted farms isn't even legal.
Makes me feel bad, yet comfortable in my mink underpants.

yea we dont really need a Mining price hike again.
Last time was bad enough.

8 days to go

It shouldnt .. I had made few posts regarding this yesterday..
In gaming scenarios the infinity cache hit rate is 58% translating to an effective mem bandwidth of 1664 GBps.. hypothetical hashrate of 166
For mining the hit rate drops to 3.7% effective mem bandwidth of 580 GBps.. hashrate of 58

I was also wondering if the infinity cache would age well given this app dependent behavior .. the infinity cache accounts for 7 to 8 billion transistors of the total 26.8 billion.. accordingly the transistor budget is a bit of a worry
