The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

There was also the letter AMD sent to distributors with X Y Z advice to help combat scalpers and to stop websites crashing.

I have no doubts that AMD will sell out across the board, regardless of the amount of GPUs they supply. The demand is just too great.

It'll be interesting to see if forums/sites go down again like they did twice in a row for 3080 and 3090 though :D - so will these measures have a big positive impact on customer experience? I sure hope so.

MILD said in his podcast that a guy he knows who has the 6900XT has said that it tanks (performs badly) in heavy Ray Tracing situations. Of course take that with a pinch of salt (as usual) until launch day.

Im fully expecting that RDNA2 will be much worse than Ampere in synthetic / fully ray traced scenarios. However how much will that affect real world games where ray tracing will be used as an enhancement rather than a core rendering method i'm unsure.

I mean Ampere is not going to be pushing complex fully path traced games in the near future.

Ouch. Curious to see those RT benchmarks.

RT in watchdogs legion on xbox series X seems to make a lot of concessions compared to even medium setting on PC.

Then again RT in spiderman looks pretty great. Although thats a first party game which was built around the ps5...

We’ll see.

I don't recall anyone even implying the AMD cards would have good raytracing.

It's very clear there's huge penalties from raytracing and that vastly more performance or a different approach to raytracing is needed but no one's said AMD is bringing that to the table.

I think once NV release the 3080ti they'll have to get a lot more realistic on their pricing until they have a comparable package which is not RDNA2.

This. It has always been rumoured that RT on the AMD cards would be better than a 2080ti but worse than a 3080. I would be happy with that in a card which without RT is faster than a 3090.

Even Nvidia cards arent ready yet for every game to be RT. Thats next gen or the gen after.

It all depends on nvidia's opaque gigaray metric.. the 3080 can do 10 gigarays/sec..
I had earlier pegged the RX6900 XT anywhere between 30-60% slower than the 3080 in RT, making some assumptions on BVH structure
havent updated the same for finalised clock speeds

Hold defensive fanboy overreaction batman.
I think he said in comparison to Ampere, still expected to surpass Turing.
He was comparing to Ampere in other sentences, but the 6900XT tanking was a separate and more general statement. It could also be exaggerated BS...

Understandable, in the bank for the good books though! ;)

She has a white digital piano - She has wanted one for a while and seen as im having huge amounts of deliveries I though I could sneak it through - It's massive and hiding it is somewhat of an issue. :) At the end of the day happy wife > new gpu.

Yeah you will get some games using RT for enhancements only. Otherwise we will see tech demos :D
