With all this talk of a repeat of the 3000 series is it even worth trying to get one
If you want one then log on, see if the one you want is available and buy it. If they are not available then go about your life as normal and check back every few weeks if you are bothered.
I don't get what the fuss is all about.

Not bothered enough that I can't go on living will just be annoyed as I've got a full watercooled system with 5900x x570 hero 32gb ram waiting for a new gpu so I can game

I really want the 6900xt but also worried these cards will be like the 3080 unicorns!

I think they will be considering they are few hundred quick cheaper than the 3090.

I would even drop to a regular 6800 if it meant getting hold of one before extinction event kicks in. :p

6800XT is so close behind though it makes less sense to get a 6900XT than it is going from a 3080 to a 3090!

Stock for sure, but we'll have to see how they compare if you don't mind installing a small nuclear power station in the garage. At stock the power limit is the same as the 6800XT despite the extra CUs/same clocks which suggests that you not only get the extra CUs but also top binned silicon. If you can plonk it underwater and take away the power limits imagine the absolute screamer that a 6900XT could potentially be at the ~2.5ghz clocks we saw some of the other cards apparently hitting with some fettling.

Still won't be worth it for me personally - (6800XT is where I'll be aiming my clicks!) but I won't be surprised if when overclocked the 6900XT can extend its rather uninspiring stock vs stock lead.

I meant if he isnt phased by the pricing (judging by his post) your best in the current state of play trying to bag either card. Me personally its bad enough shelling out £600 on a GPU anyway, so if I cant secure a 6800XT I wont be upping the ante to the next tier no matter what.

If I cant get a 6800XT, I would entertain a 6800. Then its trying to get a 3080FE. If all of them options get a joke then I will try a PS5 and just get on with gaming till this farce blows over.

Had a good session on my series X last night, happy to wait now for CPUs and GPUs to get plenty of stock.

Slapped an old reference 290 in for now, fired up the system and realised i wont be playing anything demanding at 3440x1440 for the time being hahaha the noise from the cooler is hilarious.

Luckily i only really play Everquest regularly as i raid 3 night's a week still and to be honest I could play that game on a casio calculator as its not very demanding.

Would be nice to get a partner card in the first round and a 5900x before crimbo though

Biggest upgrade I have had in years for graphics performance is using a 3950X for my old single thread games which really chug on intel CPUs, even the latest ones.

Really looking forward to using the 5950X when it turns up at the end of the month.

Price - nah im happy to pay the extra £300 for the 6900 XT. You all noticed how AMD cards hold their prices quite well :)

With Brit exit around the corner I can only see prices going up and not down for GPUS

To me the 6800 is the card least worth buying as it's too close in price to the 6800XT and I think should have been priced at 3070 levels. I see that as a mistake by AMD and I believe that they will drop the price relatively soon after launch to make the 3070 less tempting. The 6800XT really is the card to go for and I personally wouldn't compromise there.

The 6900XT at £999 is comparatively FAR better value vs the 6800XT at £650 than the abysmal 3090 at £1600 is vs the 3080 at £700. It's of course still not good value, but certainly more palatable if you are looking for the max performance for your money. As for residuals, it will likely hold them better than the 3090 as the 3080 TI, assuming it arrives, will make the 3090 a dead duck.

3080 FE prices were always the lowest and unrealistic for AIBS to meet imo. Explains why they all focused on the high end OC 3080s - ( all 3080s are so similar anyway )

I have no problems paying £800 for a decently cooled card.

so Nvidia has stated they already has "smart Access Memory" functionality in house working, for both Intel & AMD, however their doing final testing on X470. They said they are seeing similar gains to what AMD has shown

i have known for long time that this functionality is in linux already via PCI Spec as i have used it for GPU compute. whats cool is its coming to Windows.

We will see how good it works without the Infinity cache, but should make for interesting graphs with possible +2-10% from both nvidia/Amd

MLID got this one right at release. Trickle tactic to top up and keep the 'RRP' there but in reality most people are sucking up thje AIB £720+ prices.

The 6800 Im hearing if fully unlocked could be a value prospect. Your possibly going to be able to flash BIOS and overclock them hard. The card is way better specced than the 3070 no matter how you slice it, and lets face it all the prices you are paying for the AIB ones are more than the 6800.

The ROG ones and some are same price as a 3080FE.. unbelievable.
