The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

Looking at a 5900x and a 6800xt upgrade. Forgive me if this has already been addressed!
But what is the best way to justify these expenses to the other half? I don't know the best way to approach the subject. She often physically assaults me and I can't remember the safety word. I am a loud screamer - I don't know if this helps.

You need not justify anything or answer to anyone who holds no authority over you. Do what you want, when you want, with who you want - no restrictions or compromises at all.

Treat yourself to the best because you probably deserve it. You come first. And never second-guess spoiling yourself! Personally, I can't think of a better way to finish off this year than to upgrade to a 5900x and 6800xt...well, unless you're like me and are considering going all-in on the 6900XT (assuming they don't just ship 50 cards on launch day).

AMD was bound to say use thier boards and cpu's to get the best out of Big Navi. No problem with that. I'm happy to use AMD cards but they Must get thier drivers sorted and make thier encoder similar performance to Nvidia's nvec imo.

By the sounds of it, you need a 5000 CPU, to get the best out of them, so that makes the 6800XT, starting at nigh on £900, assuming you already have an AMD board, you can just drop the CPU straight into, if not, then as well as the CPU, you'll need the mobo etc... as well, pushing it even higher.
the 6800XT slides were without the benefits of the memory / RAGE enhancements. Well, they were the only slides without the disclaimer.

Lol.
The flip side of course is he's spent the last 5 years being wrong about AMD's GPU's lol.

This is the first time the hype has been close to accurate for an AMD GPU launch (As frankly, while it's clear AMD are on to a winner as far as performance goes, it's not the "smackdown" people are hyping it to be, or by that token we'd seen Nvidia's 2070 Super was smacking down the 5700XT etc etc)

Wasn't the 5700xt priced to compete with the 2070 or 2060 ?

Priced to compete with the 2070, the Super didn't exist at the time.

But it's not the point I'm making.
It'd be hyperbolic to suggest the 2070 Super was killing a 5700XT. The same way it's hyperbolic to say the 6800XT stomped the 3080.

From what I can read it boosts performance by between 5-15% depending on if developers even take advantage of this which is yet to be seen... Still a 3/2xxx CPU would be a good CPU to have.

Oh boy these are looking good, shame though that the base pricing this gen seems to start at £550+ but probably can’t expect a 16gb card coming in at around £350

Anyhow wanted to ask will these cards work with VRR on LGs OLEDs?

had my sights set on a 3080 gysync because of my LG OLED, but that was because I didn’t think AMD would be competitive.

would rather go full AMD if given similar performance + extra vram will be useful next gen.

That guy is incapable of being concise. Many of his videos are literally titled rambling on X subject and it's not wrong.

I prefer rambling to the scripted "this is awesome". His videos are far more useful for information than most reviewers.

Of course if he ever gets review samples in numbers, he will revert to the others, so the longer he doesnt get them the better.

I was looking to get a 5900X with a 3080 as I have a GSYNC monitor , I can get an EVGA FTW for £790 - now im just confused and don't know what to do

Something else doesnt make sense to me

You guys were promising that RDNA2 would scale like a beast and 80CU would beat the 3090 - you guys never knew about RAGE or SAM. So why is it that without RAGE and SAM it doesn't beat the 3090, even though it has a really high clock speed, more IPC than RDNA 1 and double the CU of RDNA1. Something is off, why are the RDNA2 cards scaling so poorly?

Lets see what 80 CUs without a 300W limit does.

So the 5700XT had a 1755Mhz game clock and a 1905Mhz boost clock. Can 5700XT owners let us know what the card actually runs at in games? It might help clear up roughly what to expect with the new cards.

my red devil is

1905MHz (Game) /up to 1770MHz (Base) / up to 2010MHz (Boost)

frequency bounced between 1924 & 1965 at stock power level (210W max)
frequency bounced between 2005 & 2010 at 50% power level (246W max)
