The 6800 is 250W compared to the 3070's 220W.
The 3070's also a bit cheaper... For 1440p, if I was in the market for a $500 card, which I'm not, the 3070 still looks better IMO.

Where can you buy the 3070 for less than £550?

Apart from Founders, which we all know will be sold out in seconds......

The 3070 isn't a £500 card, it's closer to a £600 card. So just spend the little extra and get a 3080 competitor (6800xt)?

Or spend a bit less and get a 3070 competitor - the 6800.

You can't use RRP to compare against Nvidia when that's not their actual prices.

6800 seems sweet spot for 1440p 144hz and looks to be faster than 3070 for same £££ (unless you can get a founders but good luck with that) and x2 the VRAM!

would go XT but don't want to upgrade my 650w PSU (XT is 750w)

See you again in 6 months when the miners and nVidia pre-order regrets have been satiated and it's actually possible to buy one of these *************.

The 3080's are easy to acquire now compared to the past days. I ordered 2 today, cancelled one as the FE was successful.

Fair play, £550 was the cheapest I seen.

Not just that, but you seem to not want to use Nvidia's 3070 RRP price, but you're more than happy to go along with the 6800's RRP.

Both cards seem silly money for what they are, but it's almost possible that Nvidia's 3070 has some merit.

I think the consumer has lost, and anyone who thinks this is what competition is meant to be obviously slept through the 7979/680 era.

I'm planning on getting a Zen 3 CPU once the "new" wears off and prices come down next year. (Plenty happy with my 3800X for now)

This SAM feature is making me think twice about the first-come/first-serve position I am taking with my graphics card purchase. It's *almost* enough to make me pass on my 3080 queue spot.

All I'm suggesting is that the game could have a hard check in the code that stops the feature being enabled on AMD cards at the moment as until now no AMD supported it.
Maybe maybe not does it matter that much?
It could but why would they if Nv never paid for RTX in those titles?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Raytracing has been implemented using Microsoft's DXR API, which is an optional API that can be used under DirectX 12. This means that Call of Duty's raytracing implementation should be usable on future DXR compatible hardware generations, including those from GPU makers like AMD and Intel.

Yes, while this is an Nvidia partnered game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Raytracing features are not RTX only. That's the beauty of Microsoft's DXR API.

Checked the FE card price?

Also there are cheaper places than here. I know of a website that will sell entry level 3070 cards at £469.

Only limited production line, and the 3080 sold out within seconds. Oh I don't know of such website! A 3070 at that price would be tempting.

Only because I don't have any other price to go off? So far it's the only price that we have to use.

Not sure if joking or not.

Nice to see AMD not skimping on the VRAM like Nvidia, but the price rises from both companies are not good to see.

AMD obviously seeing what exorbitant prices people are paying for Nvidia GPUs and wanting in on the action.

Gotta say, dont like how all the benchmarks included the Smart Access tech, its falsely represented the situation a bit in my view. You might still be better off getting a RTX 3080 for example, or 3070, if the performance is the same or better to a similarly priced RDNA 2 GPU without upgrading your CPU.

AMD is doing well though ofc, so not meant as a criticism really.

They didn't. The 6800XT had nothing, the 6800 had Smart Access and the 6900XT had Rage + Smart Access.
