Now then,

Currently I run 2x 7950 overclocked to the limits, I was waiting for the Fury X, but the price is too much for me to pay for say 20% increase in performance, especially as money is tight and its a bit far out of my comfortable budget for a new gpu.

In my missus's pc she runs a 2900XT, its finally just popped its clogs.

The idea was when I upgrade to a single GPU, id have two 7950's spare and put one in her pc, and one as a backup for when one dies (as her pc is built up out of my old bits)

Now....

I run ULPS in crossfire (only 1 gpu enabled when crossfire isn't active)...

And the games we play, well we don't play elder scrolls online any more, we have gone back to..........
World of warcraft :p And I play it windowed mode, so only one 7950 is used anyway, but it does get a bit laggy now and then, id like the full speed of 2x 7950's but that's impossible unless you play fullscreen but I like playing in windowed mode.

So anything that's better or close to 2x 7950's would be perfect as a single gpu.

So whats the best / cheapest solution right now?
2nd hand 290X or buy new 390? whats the performance difference between the two?

Thanks.

I was hoping on waiting for Fury X prices to drop but as iv been forced into a situation to do something, meh. unlucky for me I guess :p

You really need to state a budget but taking into the account the sale of your 7950 and you cant afford the Fury then the next best thing is the 290X/390X if you dont want to go the nvidia route. They are about the same performance wise its just whether you want to spend an extra £40 on the 390X.

Well, iv just popped one of my 7950s in her pc for now, obviously no effect for me playing wow because I only used one gpu anyway.

I think I might try get hold of a 2nd hand 290X how much do they go for?

Budget is 200
