I am buying myself a new monitor.

Brought myself an asus 5850 last month, and now am upgrading the monitor to do it justice. I have narrowed it down to two that i am impressed with. My budget is £200 max, unless someone convinces me otherwise. I pretty much game and watch movies on my pc.

The two contenders are : -

The BenQ G2420HDBL 24" i've been reading so much about on these forums.

The BenQ V2410 Eco 24"

Basically, im leaning towards the G2420HDBL, so many good reviews, within my budget, LED screen, which is what im interested in.

The V2410 is also interesting, seems to be an 'identical' screen to the G2420HDBL, except for the HDMI socket instead of the DVI.

Is the V2410 an identical screen? This is pretty much what i want to know, as my 5850 has an HDMI output. Also, if i did utilise the HDMI, would i experience a better picture quality than using the DVI?

Any input, and opinions would be greatly appreciated, ill be clicking the buy button either later tonight if i get impatient! or tomorrow morning as i need the delivery to be for tuesday coming.

The BenQ G24HDBL is a great monitor for the price. Thats the one i'd go for. I'm not sure how it compares to the v2410 though.

To clarify, neither of these monitors have an "LED" screen. Its a standard LCD TN panel, but with an LED backlight. This isn't a bad thing, but it isn't the paradigm shift that the advertising would have you believe. From what I hear, the BenQ LED backlight implementation is rather good (unlike some others).

As for DVI vs HDMI, they are electronically compatible with each other. The picture quality over DVI is identical to the picture quality over HDMI. The benenfit of the HDMI is that it carries sound and it a bit easier to insert.

yeh, LED backlight, i knew what i meant when i was typing :P

thankyou for answering my question, if theres no improvement with picture quality, and fact i got a decent set of speakers, i dont think ill be using the HDMI input then.

G2420HDBL is going to be my choice then i believe!

Haha. I love this - so true. I want to quote that on my website. :D

The G2420HDBL should be a monitor you'll be very happy with. BenQ are also releasing a V2420 shortly. The styling isn't to everyone's taste, though. I personally do like it, apart from the neck looks a little skinny in the photos - but this is probably exacerbated by the camera angles and setup.

Whats the difference between this and the G2420HDBL (besides the eco and HDMI)

I'm not sure as I haven't tested it or read any reviews. It may be that the panel itself is similar, but it is thinner and looks very different. Performance wise I wouldn't like to say.

well i ordered earlier today, and should be in my hands at work tomorrow!

quite excited, had the same monitor for 5 years now, got an old 17 inch, served me well, and still works a treat, but i want bigger :)
