As much as I'd love an Elise, and whilst I'd even ditch my four seater requisite, they are more than just a bit out of budget

A track only car doesn't appeal, either. This is a car that is primarily a road car, I already have one "competition" car in the garage, which I'd like to take onto some less power focussed circuits.

Dup, I see your point, but it isn't likely she'll come in my car often, if at all - I just need the option to, so that part isn't a huge consideration. If I could afford an EP3 and a LSD then I'd have one, but I think this is over budget.

Jasmine, they weren't "hedge finders", they were premium tyres :D (ZZ5 an P-Zero Nero, albeit with about 2mm tread).

Can easily get a very sorted 220bhp+ FI MX5 for that money; fuel, tyres, service and brakes will all be cheap too. RWD with LSD, more smiles per mile than anything else I can think of at this budget.

I'd love to believe that a £3600 M3 would be all that I want, I might even be able to stomach SMG, but the price and the desperation to sell ring alarm bells with me.

Shimmy, that certainly appeals to me - I'm a huge fan of the MX5, but I know three people who have all had supercharged MX5s (one of them has had two infact!) and one who had a BBR, and they've all got rid of them within just a few months of doing the conversion/getting them, which screams 'issues' to me.

He owns An R32 GTST and is making it crazy fast so needs the £.

Genuine guy and has imported many cars ( his own company ). Well known for having Some amazing machines.

So you know three people that have had charged 5's, all of which got rid soon after but you haven't asked why? I'm discounting the BBR as it's the worst of all the FI options iirc.

There's a fair few members on this forum that either had or have blown 5's and seem perfectly happy.

Interested to know what issues these are, ref the supercharged 5, i was the first on this forum to build and own one and know loads of other people who have done the same.

The ST220 isn't really my thing, or even close to what I'm after.

Regarding the 'charged 5s, I have asked but I feel like I'm getting excuses in return. They make out like they are the best thing since sliced bread, but my gut feeling just doesn't buy it seeing as they all got rid so easily/quickly.

Howard's one (S/C MX5) looked brilliant, but it was about the same pace as my car - probably slightly quicker.

Now my car could not even consider to keep up with your last Focus ST so I'm not sure how you want to look at it like that.

Would probably be very very fun on a track and B roads but not so much fun driving to work or on the motorway. It's also only 2 seats and won't be as quick as your last car.

Personally I can't get on with an E36 M3, just a tad too old for me and obviously the stigma attached and trying to find a really good one.

Had my '5 supercharged last Christmas. Have no plans to get rid of it any time soon, either. It just works. It's a simple installation, but it's effective. Adds a useful dollop of speed and feels pretty quick.
