On a turbo car and I'd rather avoid SUL if possible, its awkward because there are only two places selling it here, and its getting more expensive too. My Honda fanboi friends tell me the JDM needs to be run on SUL, so I listen?

Ad, it is all very well saying some companies recognise the JDM isn't any different, but I bet they are the companies that wouldn't be competitive on the UKDM. For example, last year, Admiral were LOTS cheaper than anyone else for my car insurance, yet they charge LOTS more for the JDM, bringing them inline with other quotes.

How the hell can running SUL be an issue for YOU?!? Only weeks ago you were declaring MPG gains significantly more than the extra fuel cost! Have you even got quotes on between the models or is this more conjecture?

Classic classic MikeH stuff, brilliant :D

I can't believe the cost of super unleaded is even mentioned especially on a weekend car! It's 7p a litre more tops!

It isn't just the cost. It is the inconvenience of going somewhere specific for SUL as well as the other factors you've ignored, like insurance.

Nice try.

Its not him you know Mike, i swear to god its you, nothing you have said recently is sensible.

You live on an island a small island, how much inconvenience can going to a different petrol station once every 2 weeks be?

Thats all conjecture. Like I said in the first place get some quotes for the prices then you can compare.

Your talking crap really, somewhere like Sky Insurance will treat them similar and offer competitive prices on either - we know that from experience. The Isle of Wight must really be white as you seem snow blind to any factual stuff.

As if you need super unleaded, by the time you hit VTAK you'll be halfway down the beach front anyway. :P Failing that just buy some Millers octane booster or wind the advance back on the dissy from the base timing of 18 BTDC to 16.

I have been to the IOW, met the people....no plans to go again soon :D although I can see it from here.

I think you're missing the point. I wouldn't have to do this if I bought the model I wanted (a UKDM). If you needed fuel in one place, would you rather travel 20 odd miles to get some, or be able to travel a mile max to your nearest one?

Whats the compression on a JDM 96 spec compared to a UKDM DC2 Mike?

The fact UKDM will be more down the rusty shed path than JDM, generally, should be a 'contributing' factor of the Isle of Dreams.

Why the same conversation isnt also relevent to the the Scooby RA and Evo5 is beyond me aswell.

20 odd miles to get Super? Really? I've never had a problem getting Super on the IOW.

The supermarket near your favourite drag strip in Newport does it anyway doesnt it?

The fact that Super unleaded is 3p more than normal unleaded at Sainsburys and 7p more at other petrol stations should not be a factor even worth mentioning. The fact it is means its playing on your mind.

Can you really afford any of these cars if you are wanting to avoid any which take SUL because the fact it costs a bit more is a 'contributing factor'?

I mean seriously? £3 a tank? It's a weekend car, you'll use what a tank a month! You don't go to Ryde or Newport more than once a month?

No idea, and the RA/5 do not have an equivalent model that does not require SUL, or an equivalent model that costs half as much to insure.

Why are you still going on about cost? are you that desperate to have a dig? You get more and more transparent with every pass.

No, Sainsbury's does not sell it. Tesco, or Harwoods. But that is completely irrelevant because SUL is only a small contributing factor when compared with insurance.

I do not wish to avoid ANY that require SUL, but it is a contributing factor when there is a UKDM model that is cheaper to insure AND will run on NUL without issue.

Like where, Tesco? About as convenient as you can get, fill up with SUL when you fill up with shopping.

As you need a massive car to take kids in as well as go on track its ideal.

Not to mention the extra BHPz and ZOMG MPGS!

Once every 2 weeks i wouldnt give a toss, its not an everyday car, coincide with a days shopping, you make it hard for yourself Mike.

But again, you're missing the point.

Do you even know where this comes from? Someone suggesting a JDM version of a car that offers no benefit, only higher insurance and a SUL requisite.

Why would I honestly opt for that, when a UKDM costs half as much to insure and runs on NUL?

****, if this was any other motors thread, people would be "LOL, double insurance, and SUL for some different headlights?!"

This thread has turned into the typical witch-hunt again, and low and behold its when Fox starts that the bandwagon starts rolling, and you guys seriously think its me?

It's times like these that I have to remind myself I'm reading an internet forum about cars!
