The thing about the AE86 is, outside of drifting interests it really isn't that great, especially not standard.
I can't speak for others, but the thing that appeals about the EK9/DC2 for me is the get in and drive, reliable performance. A bit like a Mac - "it does everything out of the box" (or so I read in Curry's today).
