Hi

Anyone ever heard of The Training Room? Better yet has anyone ever used them or have any experience at all with them?
Seems they have cleverly setup google results with their name to have bypassed all searches to be their own website links etc so finding it difficult to find non biased reviews.

Why am I asking?

I am considering signing up with them to get into the IT Industry.
They claim to guide you through all courses, helping you all the way and ensure you pass, train you up for interviews and then gurantee you with a job in the field you desire. Comes with a job guarantee or your money back.. and full support for 3 years even after you have a job, incase you want to change job later on etc.. If it wasnt for the price it all sounds too good to be true, BUT IT IS £3200!!!

Courses include CompTIA A+, N+ and CyberNetwork+

All exams included in cost and resits etc.

It screams out...
...it all sounds too good to be true,

And they've manipulated Google search results? I'd stay well clear.

Things like this pop up on Facebook the last one I saw was become a plumber in five weeks for the princely sum of 500 quid, I have also seen ads like this for tilers.
In my opinion too good to be true and I would avoid.

They probably offer you an in-house 0 hours contract on a below market rate salary...

Edit: you don't get your money back, you get £1000 over 4 months, and the T&C's are vague enough that I imagine they'd find it very easy to wiggle out of...

You can study for those courses free in your own time, and pay a fraction of the cost for just the exams/certification

Can you recommend where/how I can study the courses if you/anyone know anything about them, also is it wise to study A+ first, then Network+ and finally Security+ ???
I really need to start doing it, I know of CBTNuggets.com but you have to pay quite a sum per month (Yeah I know still no way near as expensive as £3200) just curious as you said free
Cheers

Just imagine needing an experienced plumber and getting someone who 'qualified' after only 5 weeks ...

I'd be

A few years ago, I got paired up with an electrician who had qualified via one of these courses. I'm sure he was great at sockets and light switches, but when I took the back cover off an industrial switchboard and explained the modification I was expecting him to help me with, he turned white as a sheet.

He managed to run about getting the materials for me. :p

By free he means (probably) buy the study books/guides and learn it yourself. If it's you're thing, groupon have an offer on for quite a load of study materials from some online company or other for 29 quid. I'll bung up a link when I dig it out of my emails.

Cheers mate, I know of CBT Nuggets think I already mentioned that, not sure what else is recommended out there. CBT Nuggets was recommended to me by a local friend

Link below. CBT nuggets is often mentioned and seems well respected.

I certainly wouldn't pay a company to 'fast track' any learning. As mentioned above in the example of the spark, you'd only end up knowing the very basics and you'd get found out very quickly if you managed to blag a job off the back of that sort of training.

I've no idea how good/bad the above is but it's about the price of a couple of self study guides so I'd hazard a guess it's 'reasonable' enough.

What I find amusing now is I emailed The Training Room back last night telling him I wont be going ahead, just had a response back saying would it help if I gave you 0% APR on the loan so it would be cheaper monthly payments...... I find that very interesting considering yesterday he was telling me conflicting things such as..... "There are too many IT jobs open and not enough qualified IT people to fulfill them, I am under pressure to get the roles fulfilled"........"This course is very popular and I am on amber alert with places remaining"......... Now hes offering me discounted rates to get on the course....... Yeah sure pal, something doesnt add up there if you ask me

Seems like a bargain if I can get it any cheaper than that then surely it would be free lol, thanks mate, bookmarked

It's a textbook con, mate. You did the right thing by questioning this and have probably dodged a bullet.

I went for JustIT over The Training Room and am coming to completing my CompTiA in the next week or so, had no issues whatsoever with them so far.

Met up with them in their office and everything is well structured and legit.

decided to buy the package from groupon for £29, got a discount code too so only cost £24. cant complain, just have to actually start doing it now... the motivation is hard to begin
