The Turing RTX 2080 Ti Owners Thread

Deal me in

Quick update, flashed bios to the gigabyte's official latest gaming oc bios. Gives it a large power limit, nvscanner getting me around 2000MHz and only done a light overclock of mem of +500 but the card runs real hot - can be between 70-80 degrees with 85-95% fan (though surprisingly not as loud as i expected that to be). The RTX cards are mega powerful though! Going to send back for the coil whine which is slightly unbearable, once I receive a replacement Ti at the end of the month. Question is, EVGA XC Ultra or MSI Sea Hawk X?

I have a Palit OC model with me at the moment. I've also installed my EK waterblock and back plate and will hopefully have it installed during the next couple of days.

I have the same card. Sits just above 2000MHz. Maximum temp of 74c so far and fans on auto seem to be 1:1 for me so 74% max. Coil whine is high in high fps (like above 300) I am pretty pleased with it. The fans are a bit loud and running much faster than I expected though. Seems yours run even higher. Might be a bit harder to cool on warmer days!

Dan, which card did you upgrade from? Is the 2080Ti much louder?

I had the 1080 ti strix oc previously. I had the MSI 2080 Ti Trio on order but it didn't materialise. Even though the fans are around 74% in game they are not the loudest thing in my system. So, for me it's not a problem. I can definitely tell it's a slight bit louder than my previous card though, but even at high rpm it's not insanely loud. Hopefully the summer temps don't make it noticeably louder though!

Indeed.

I would rather get a card with a bios I like, for example one of the EVGA cards.:)

Got an XC Ultra on order, allegedly arriving next week. No sign of the FTW3 so didn’t want to wait even longer. Just hoping the XC Ultra is a decent enough card.

I’ll just have to play RDR2 for a few days before it turns up. :)

It’s a brave man who flashes the BIOS with a non-FE BIOS on their >£1100 card.

Not difficult in any way. Kind of like flashing your motherboard. Only issue you will have is if for some reason your electric goes off during the flash, or you flash it with the wrong bios :p

I’ll be doing mine once it’s under water if it needs it.

For me it depends on the game. So most games sits around 1995, but can be as low as 1930 when running timespy extreme. It's 3dmark where I see it hottest, sometimes into the 80s, in game usually 70-76 degrees. This is on a custom curve, 85% up to 75 degrees then all the way up to 100 by 80 or 85 degrees (can't remember). I get that same whine, but also in some select games I am getting it at 80ish fps.

31st October delivery date then? I think I know exactly where you ordered from. They got the date spot on for my Gigabyte Gaming OC, expected date was 22nd and it arrived 22nd. My XC Ultra is coming 1st November, not 31st October, as I'm getting it sent to a "locker" location. Seems a good card and was always the one I wanted one I'd done research on them all. If the gaming oc didn't have it's issues I'd probably have kept that and the £100 difference mind.

No issues, per se. Just a bit of a coil whine on mine every now and then.

No "problem" with mine either. Just don't really think you should ever need 100% fan speed. Maybe the fans a designed to run higher on this model or something. My 1080 Ti Asus Strix OC never went over 50% fan speed at around the same max temps of mid 70's. So these Gigabyte cards definitely run higher stock rpms.

So far card seems great. Build quality is excellent, very weighty although i will be fitting a waterblock very soon.

Nice improvement over my 1080Ti. The witcher 3 for example (and games like it) was getting 110fps with my 1080Ti at maximum overclock. 2080Ti is at 155fps with havent fully tested but at 2025mhz at around 75c. This will be much needed for current games at 4k and while an expensive upgrade, is a nice improvement. Is a bit of new shiny tech to use as had pascal since launch. Looking forward to seeing what DLSS can do.

Only downside i can see to the FE card is no fan control so the card is constantly sat at around 1500rpm at idle with the card at 30c. Which is audible over everything else in the system, but not by much. If i could control the fans i'd be tempted to keep it on air but as is will be fitting a waterblock next week.

The card itself is reasonably quiet even under high load, not much noisier than my old gaming X. Minimal whine which is excellent. Old 1080Ti was quite noisy in terms of buzz/whine.

So far very happy. Will be putting it to good use later on :).

Will probably stick an update next week with some photos once i have the waterblock fitted.

What res is that on?
1440 just with a mixture of settings so I could quickly test both cards this morning.

Also flashed ready for the block :). Seen the gigabyte 141% bios but hoping 130% will be enough as was just teetering over 123% maxed clocks.

Also for those wanting to know. EVGA bios fixed the fan issues. So can now have fans turned off for desktop/idle and adjust fan speeds to desired fan curve as required.

Yep, like you I'm coming from a card with a great cooler too. Was actually funny taking my 1070 Amp Extreme out which was massive, could reach very high RPMs and had tonnes of cooling headroom (got me the 6th highest 1070 timespy extreme score) and put this thing in that was a little puny in comparison that runs a bit hotter with only a little bit of headroom left after an (albeit surprisingly good) nvscanner and mem overclock as I'm running at 85% fan speed.

Fair play to you all for slamming down the money for one of the 2080ti cards. It certainly does push 4k gaming past 60fps on AAA titles. I just cant justify the money for what ill get back for my 1080ti strix OC

I wouldn't if I was you! I'm 1440p ultrawide. My 1070 was beginning to struggle. Shadow of the tomb raider, wildlands and a few others were really unpleasant with it maxed, so it was an easy enough leap for me to take.
