I am going to guess that the only binning done is by nvidia for the -a chips. After that whether they factory overclocked and by what amount I think no extra binning is done.

Is it worth getting one of the higher binned cards if sticking a waterblock on it or are they all pretty much the same under water?

Not really, they all pretty much overclock the same regardless of model. Just down to the silicon lottery as usual.

With a waterblock then either go FE or cheapest EVGA which allow waterblocks in their warranty.

As Tyler says, just go with FE or EVGA... both allow blocks within warranty so no problem there, and it's just not worth paying more. You seriously won't notice the difference once you put under water. Silicon lottery will have more of an impact.

My EVGA 2080ti Black Edition artifacting and crashing with every single game today, Its been two days since I received the card. I purchased it on this of 19ths December and it arrived on the 22nd. It seemed to work fine the first two days but all the issues started this evening when I try to play some Just Cause 4. I also tested some Assassin Creed Odyssey and Battlefield 5 and the exact same thing happens. Even No Mans Sky is Artifacting.

I Have no overclock applied to it what so ever, all the settings are at default and I reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers using DDU twice, as you can see from the videos above it has heavy artifacting which leads into a crash as soon the game starts.

I knew the 2080tis were having problems but I did not expect them to be this bad, Now I'm left with Intel HD graphics, This really sucks!

Additional Info

So far I unplugged all my screens except my middle one, its a Dell U2515H 60hz IPS panel which is connected with a certified Accell displayport Cable. I uninstalled the NVIDIA Drivers and also booted into Safe mode and Ran Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to make sure the drivers are 100% removed. Rebooted back into windows and even with no driver installed my mouse kept on freezing every couple of seconds, I started the NVIDIA driver setup (Version 417.35) and ticket the (Clean Installation) box. Only installed the HD Audio Driver, USB-C, Physx, and Display Driver. So no GeForce Exprience or 3D Vision or anything else.

Even My desktop experience is having issues with freezing and artifacting. No matter the game I run or benchmark application I use (Unigine / 3D Mark) it has massive artifacting and crashes. I was hoping to do some gaming during the holidays and now I'm siting here with a defective card, kind of depressing. I really hope you guys who purchased the same EVGA Black Edition card don't run into any issues because is very frustrating.

I already miss my Old GTX 1080ti I had no problems with that card for the 2 years I've had it, at this point it feels like a downgrade going with RTX cards.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your RTX 2080 Ti.

I briefly owned a MSI 2080ti Duke. Unfortunately I had to return it because the coil whine was louder than the rest of the setup combined. To be fair I have an open air case so I am more susceptible to the issue than others. I tried the card with different PSUs, different power connectors etc all to no avail. Even putting the card in a closed case only dampened the sound, but it was still in the background.

I replaced the 2080ti with a 2080 Duke (non Ti). Lo and behold the card had almost identical levels of coil whine.

Have I just been unlucky? Can any one comment on the capacitor whine their cards do or do not suffer from? I am in the process of returning the 2080 and my old card is a vanilla (Palit) 1070 which doesn't suffer the same issue.

Thanks.

Nothing from my trio x. If you've tried different psus I don't know. Some people are more susceptible to it than others.

Try a dog whistle, see if you can hear it ;)

Every top power hungry card has it to be perfectly honest.

An air cooled card will usually mask the noise. High refresh displays tend to make them scream a bit. Mine for example is silent at 60hz. But at 144-165hz it does tend to buzz a fair bit.

Whine is more like a dog whistle at 3000frames than the general card buzz you get from the power circuitry at normal frames. If it’s a high pitched scream then chances are vsync is not enabled.

I’ve had couple of mobos, 3-4 PSU’s made no difference. I’ve gone through several 1080Ti’s, 2 1080’s and every one had it to a very similar extent. Same story with 2080Ti.

Hi Sh4rkie, how is the MSI Trio with fan noise? Its one I'm looking at but want a reasonably quiet card.
Very happy with mine and similar to yourself this was the reason i went for the MSI card.

I'm using the stock fan profile, +150 on the core (boosts to around 2050 - 2080mhz depending on game) and with a closed case at around 77c.

Run the same clocks on my Zotac and it tops out at 69C with the fan on auto.

Good point someone made about the whine though. I cap at 60Hz so it never does 3000fps on menus or anything.

Er has anyone here put the black edition underwater, as I was about to purchase the Ek vector founders edition block from ocuk.

But on ek’s site they don’t list the card (11G-P4-2281-KR) as having one only saying coming soon.

I’d of thought this was a FE card, I have emailed ek to double check.

But wondered if anyone on here could confirm? Before I send the card back for a different one.

Thanks :)

100% no coil whine @ high fps;
