Having trouble seeing it on mobile - is that a display on the block? For temps perhaps?

Mine should be here tomorrow, not overly excited, it's replacing a EVGA 1080 ti SC2 which will be going to the wife to replace her 1060. I run at 1440p 144hz, so some games, such as Origins Odyssey, Anthem etc, the heavy hitters will run at a higher fps which will be nice. Other than that, it's purely for future proofing as I doubt I can be bothered to wait to see if something comes out prior to 2077. Which is what this is mainly being bought for lol

On average the 2080ti is about 35% more expensive than a 2080.

    Is it 35% faster?

Roughly it is 30% faster than a 1080ti / 2080 but well worth it :)

I'm glad you're happy with your card, but I'm sorry how can you say well worth it?

Look at the 980 Ti vs 780 Ti 65% ish faster for same price around £550-575.

GTX 1080 Ti launched at £719 25% price increase but a sold 75+% faster than 980 Ti.

RTX 2080 Ti so many different prices, let's meet in the middle at £1250 That's a 73% increase in price for 25-30% more performance. It looks like the performance:price ratio has flipped around this gen when comparing Pascal to Maxwell.

Did you think that kind of price / performance ratio could just carry on forever though? So in what 10 or 20 years we would still be getting a 75% jump per gen for a 25% price increase?

Diminishing returns - that's where we are at now. From here on in, unless we have some kind of tech breakthrough expect high prices and small leaps in performance.

Exactly, we have to hit a limit at some point. If Intel/AMD managed a 35% increase every gen I doubt there would be any complaints there.

Is the FE cards the only ones with vapour chamber coolers?

Honestly for me it was well worth because i game at 4k, have the disposable income and wanted the best visuals. That combination meant upgrading from a 1080ti while pricey netted a decent tangible improvement and that was worth it despite the cost.

Don't get me wrong i don't want £1200 - £1300 top tier cards to be the new norm and when they first came out i was first in line saying i wouldn't touch them with a barge pole because i felt the price was insane. I can also look back at previous generational leaps with fondness at the price / performance ratio but it doesn't matter when it comes clicking the buy button in 2019.

I felt the same but also how lucky we are in this generation we could sell our old 1080Ti for close to how much we bought them for.

This really helped with upgrading costs.
