It's this time of the year when blood and blood products run low. I know there are some here that donate and Meridian is hard core but for those of you that don't donate or are thinking of doing it, please take the leap.

I took a break as I had a couple of tattoos and little Von was born around that time so I fell by the wayside a bit but I am now back every three weeks or so to donate platelets.

Please visit ...... http://www.blood.co.uk/

Blood, platelets and the bone marrow register, it really is the best gift you will ever give.

Would love to however, need to wait another 4 months, not long returned from a malarial country, and i ****** off the anti malarials they gave us(horrible side effects) pretty sure i'm not infected its been 2 months now and i'm still fit as a fiddle however, rules be rules.

I donate platelets once a month through work - working in a lab, though, I don't get any long service rewards or prizes for donating X amount of times :(. never mind, it's the thought that counts :)

I would do it but I don't want too. If I ever get a blood problem or bone problem that would render me dead pretty soon then I would accept my fate and move on to the place I belong with the other Gods. The sooner I'm with my own, the better!

Edit: Also on the bone marrow register and a card-carrying organ donor. I was called last year about potentially donating marrow, but they found a better match so I wasn't needed.

Yeah, shame they couldn't fix that chromosome problem you got at birth.

I gave blood a few years ago and fainted afterwards and was told not to go back. Think I'll check with the doctor to see if I can have that changed and start giving again. Perfectly fit and healthy, certainly now I am, but on that day I'm sure a combination of having recently lost a fair bit of weight, not having much to eat or drink, and being at the gym earlier on was what made me faint. Quite frustrating, my own stupidity though.

That is an incredibly selfish viewpoint. I'm sure you would be the first person crying for a blood transfusion if you were seriously Ill/injured.

I used to, I also donated platelets (4 times IIRC) but really hated it. Kept gettings awful side effects during the donation. So refused to do it anymore! I do keep meaning to donate whole blood, but have to wait due to an operation. Plus, probably got to go back in!

I've not given blood in a while, used to do it fairly regularly.

I've just searched on that site where the closest venue is, between now and june.

Seems that it's 48.8 miles away.

I need to check if I can give blood. Was ill in October this year and not sure if I'm still eligible to donate as a result. I will check it out.

I donated a pint of A neg red goodness last Saturday Mr OP ;)
