Here's a list of tools ive downloaded / used, or some ive heard about which could be quite usefull.

IZArc - Archiver, fast and has tons of fuctions
Deep Burner Pro - Lightweight CD/DVD burning
D-Tools - DEAMON Tools, for mounting CD Images
Eraser - File eraser, to make it unrecoverable
Lupas Rename - Mass file renamer
SyncBack - Folder Synchronization tool

ISO Recorder - ISO Recorder is a lightweight power toy for Windows XP
IrfanView - Compact and fast image viewer
Hamachi - Hamachi lets you create your own virtual network of computers without actually having to network them together. It basically creates a LAN with other computers over the Internet.

ImageResizerPowerToy - Shell extension that allows you to right click single/multiple images to resize them
Unlocker - Lets you delete files that are locked by windows
 
Thanks for this...

The Unlocker came in very useful for an empty folder that I'd been trying to delete for a while. It's now gone.

I would add both Logmein Free and Sequoiaview to the list.

The former is a free remote access programme that works through the web so you can access your home system from pretty much anywhere and the latter is a graphics-based file viewer. It can quickly tell you what's eating up all the space on your system.
 
image resizer powertoy is a pile of garbage, if you resize any large image, you'll get terrible image quality, i really wish they'd update it :(
 
Flexible Renamer - Fantastic tool for renaming files. Has lots of options, just used it to rename a folder of mac jpg's so i could use them in Windows.

Doing it manually would have taken ages!
