So I have been upgrading my PC bit by bit for years, from a Radeon HD 6970 with an i3 to a r9 290, all the way to a GTX 1080 and i7 3770k. I have been stuck with LGA1155 for years and finally took the plunge and have purchased The big upgrade, CPU, Motherboard and RAM.

The outcome will be as such:
Core i7 8700k - New Purchased (Purchased via Overclockers, first purchase from yourselves)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED CPU Cooler - New Purchase
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW - From my current build
Asus Intel 1151 Socket Z370 Chipset Prime P ATX Motherboard - New Purchase
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000MHz - New Purchase
Corsair 120GB Force Series MP500 Internal M.2 SSD - New Purchase
Samsung Pro Evo 830 120GB SSD - From my current build
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm 6 Gbps - From my current build
Toshiba 2TB 5600rpm 6 Gbps - From my current build

Peripherals, Chair and Monitors:
Asus mg278q 1440p 144Hz 27' monitor - Main gaming monitor and middle of the 3
Acer SA24 24' 1080p ZeroFrame monitor x2 - 2 side monitors for "other" stuff
Corsair M65 Pro RGP gaming mouse
HyperX Alloy Elite Mechanical Red LED Gaming Keyboard
SecretLabs Omega gaming chair

I had to purchase the CPU from yourselves as no one else had it in stock and everywhere in Ireland sells it near 500€ for no apparent reason. I will post pictures once I have everything and I have set it up, quite happy to say I will finally have a high end build

Hi and welcome,

Looking good, pics always needed

Just a friendly heads up, this forum is paid for and run by overclockers so mentioning any competitors is strictly forbidden, so best remove any references to such :)

Keep us updated with pics etc... :)

Good call mate, done and dusted, Also received my i7 within 2 days and I live in Ireland, seriously impressed with Overclockers business so far.

Right I may need a bit of help, I have never overclocked before and DO NOT plan on doing it, but I am getting some high temps on my CPU and the Nvme m.2 drive that I have. My CPU is about high 30's-50 degrees while idle and goes up to about 80 when gaming. I can actually feel the heat coming from the computer as a result. I have messed around with the bios a bit, turned off the default on Turbo mode and another option which was making all the cores go high into the 4.~ Ghz randomly. But I am still worried these temps are too high.

My Nvme drive is idle at about 50-60 degrees and like 70-80 when gaming without the game even being on that drive, is this normal?

xmp is for ram isnt it?
Yeah it sets the RAM to the manufacturers advertised speeds / timings, but it also bumps up CPU temps when CPU is both idle and under load, so worth trying it off just to see if it's that causing the higher than expected temps

Fixed the CPU temps by turning off the hyperthreading and CPU Turbo boost that were default to on in my new motherboards Bios, temps are now idle at 30 and max out around 50-60. M.2 drive is a nightmare though, temps will not come down, 4 fans blowing onto it and not going below 60, bought a EK M.2 Heatsink from Overclockers for it but due to a lack of reply from Overclockers of it would fit or not, it didn't fit, 2 clips supplied with the heatsink were way too small to wrap around both the heatsink and drive

turning off hyper threading is a bit extreme to sort the temperatures. i was is not heat sink mount or anything else?

Agree Hyper 212 should be doing a better job. Are you sure that you've got proper contact with the CPU? You might also want to check thermal paste application and whether you have positive airflow pressure in the case i.e. fans are in the correct intake / exhaust position.
