Even with our ongoing devaluation and quantitive easing, i believe the pound might now be at its lowest ever rate when compared to the Euro.
10 year figures from what I can tell
GBP/EUR close:1.06499 low:1.06458 high:1.44072

Has the pound ever been weaker?

I think they did say that the pound had hit its lowest value.

Gotta wonder how some people are feeling it with holidays in Europe this summer. It'll be quite a chunk added on extra compared to previous years.

Was something my dad was saying to me but looks like I didn't quite understand. :o

Buy low sell high right ?

You should probably check what he meant exactly if you're selling the florida villa (or trying too!!) asap based on that conversation.

The "we" was referring to our family villa that we've been using for over a decade, but technically it is my dad telling me he is selling it.

It did make sense when he explained, but my brain is currently not working (I'm actually in hospital due to keto acidosis poisoning my body/brain) so not as powerful as I usually am.

The pound was down to £1.063 against the dollar in March 1985 it seems, whereas it was previously £2.437 to the dollar four years earlier.

Anyone who was an adult at the time care to comment on what was happening back then?

Miners strike reaching a whole year but mainly it was just a very strong dollar caused by Reagan spending and massive inward investment. It's not the same as today which is simply caused by a tanking Sterling and poor forecast.
