Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

Might be a simple question for some of you but does the Vega56 now finally come with 4K HDR over HDMI?
Maybe it's just me, but if I were going to get a Vega card I'd want a Vega 64 (either AIO, 3rd party or WC'd). The Vega 56, while better, doesn't seem like a huge step up from the Fury X I'm running currently (and currently I'm running Fury X CF).
Not sure why everyone seems so keen on the 56, what am I missing?

Because the Vega56 would go on water and hopefully OC to something in range of the Vega64.

Also the vega64 is extortionate rubbish. It hardly beats the 1080 in most tests whereas the Vega56 beats or draws level with the 1070 depending on the test. If they can keep the card around £300 then it's a no brainer.

A 64 will go on water too and can hopefully overclock as well.

I think the 56 is the pick of the bunch, here's a vid I posted in the 56 thread, have a look in the later part and he does a simple oc on the ram and watch that baby go

I didn't realise until watching that video that the Vega 64, the 1070 and the 1080 can't be overclocked!

Also a Ryzen 1600 is nearly as good as a 1700 in games...
But surely if you're getting a CPU like that you'll use it for more than gaming? Get a 7700K if you're just gaming surely? How does the 1600 compare to the 1700 in things like video encoding or something else that can fully load all the cores?
That video seemed like an apples vs diesel review in that it wasn't even close to useful comparisons...

perhaps we are not seeing the same thing as what im getting is the 56 is so close to the 64 air is it worth paying the extra for a 64 air

Just looked up a few, 64 is faster.
Not by much, I think the fact that the 56 can overclock to match the 64 and still use less power makes it a better buy, sure the 64 can overclock but the power consumption spirals to stupid levels
And even when they are both overclocked the difference is less than 10 fps

But the 64 is faster.

Sometime the gap between 56 and 64 seems to be the same as between the Fury X and the 56. I've already got 2 Fury Xs. A 56 doesn't seem like it'd be an upgrade from Fury X CF.

I can see your point, I have a Fury pro and it's fine but I'm getting the urge for something new and feel for my res I will benefit with 8 gb ram, I also feel vega will improve with driver updates.
Hoping to pick one up Monday and if gibbo is right and they come in under £400 then that's less than I paid for the fury
