Looking at the amount of undervolting people are able to run while holding the same clockspeeds is a little at odds with the clockspeeds available at higher voltages.

It will be interesting to see what clockspeeds the aftermarket cards can hit.

Surely the card will overheat/throttle. The liquid cooling is what allows it to operate at faster speeds/higher voltages.

• Card used: XFX RX Vega 64 black reference air cooled. Model #RX-VEGMTBFX6. GPU-Z claims Micron HBM2. Cooled by EK Vega-FC waterblock in custom loop, temps in the high 40s under load, rarely break 50.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing it.
Mind you, I suspect there's plenty of time before we see that price in which you can change your mind (especially when you start pricing up a full WC loop!).
You planning on building in your current case (if so what is it?), getting a new case or doing a completely new build?

I wanted a Vega 64 AIO but not sure I can be bothered to wit for the price to drop to something reasonable or performance gets bumped to 1080Ti levels, so gonna see what the 3rd party coolers perform like and cost.

Invest in koolance quick disconnects and coloured tubing and it makes changing components dead easy and you don't have to drain the loop every time.

It was replaced by the RX 580. It is essential the same card, just a rebrand with a higher price.

I just might do this for my next build Kaaps. If EK's new MLC stuff turns out to be good and they back it with good amount of warranty, I will pick up a 360 rad of that. If Titan Volta turns out to mine well, I might grab that and a block. Mining could offset the stupid price at least and I finally end up with a true 4K card

Was thinking to do the same with Vega AIO, but it is nothing special at mining and all the evidence show lots of coil whine. My Nano had coil whine, was annoying

Hopefully they sell a whole lot more with V56 coming out. They need all the money they can get to invest and catch up. Don't like the idea of only having Nvidia available only available if you want to game at 4K in the future. Hopefully now Ryzen being a success, the CPU division can support the GPU division for a change.

I have 4 watercooled PCs.

Mine tend to be a bit ugly as I use them for testing stuff so things get swapped around.

Here is a pic NVidia have used for facebook of my 6950X and 4 way Pascal Titans

The cards in the pic above are now watercooled and on an open test bench.




Here is another PC with a 5960X and 4 way Maxwell Titans.

My Fury X PC looks exactly the same as the one above but with a red interior.

Asuuming you mean 1080ti (as it already matches the 1080 in games and rapes it in applications) I'm not so sure, it will prob settle between 1080/1080ti performance IMO. I'm not expecting it to jump multiple tiers like the 7970 did lol.

Moving on we have a much less exciting comparison to make with the air-cooled Vega 64 model -- what a stinker. Overall it was 5% slower than the GTX 1080 Founder Edition and of course it runs much hotter, louder and burns more power than a Skylake-X processor on steroids.

There is no denying the Vega is an epic failure. Vega56 has its place though. If you had the cash for 1070 range gpu then the Vega56 is an enticing option.
