Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

Prices are revelant to wages. If You earn lets say 20k a year then 1000 pounds is 1/20 of wages but lets say You are on 60k a year that 1/60.
If I was on 60 i would buy 2 or 3 Titans Xp instead of 1 Titan X i have now simple :)

You know whats a crazy price ?? Move to East Europe whera averagge wag is 400 quid a MONTH and prices are same or higher than in UK. And People still need GPU's to play games !!!! I needed to save for 1-2 years for new GPU when I lived in Poland that would be equal to 3000 pounds worth of saving for GPU !!! So now for me 600 quid for GPU is ******* CHEAP !!! Like Pint at pub costs in wages comparison 15 pounds.

Some People dont know how good they have it here. Sure it was much better 12 years ago when I moved to UK from Poland but its still 4 times better well maybe besides NHS :P Its worst than anything.
 
I've got my 350 pound ready, and there's still no AMD product to buy.

How are AMD still only offering 580's at this price point =-/

I absolutely need to upgrade from my 290X.

Why bother? If you want to play games that suited for Keyboard and mice get a PC, if you want keyboard and mouse to improve the user interface on a console (to fill out forms, input text etc) just build a phone app like Unified Remote but for an Xbox.

Well depends on how you look at the situation. I think people measure expense in different ways.

or just get an XIM4 like me and use keyboard and mouse on PS4. Works perfect and feels no different to gaming on a PC. It's the best of both worlds and a lot of my friends are console only. So when i buy a game that my Console mates are playing and not my PC friends i can feel right at home.

I hope you're not playing FPS games online on the console?. If so, that's extremely dirty as you have a massive advantage over others.
 
Nothing stopping others doing the same - other than the cost of the mouse/keyboard and adapter. :)

Maybe people are buying up the Vega cards at the silly prices after seeing them beat the 1080ti in Forza 7 at 1080p ....

It's Microsoft and Sony that are to blame here really. People who can afford to use this will dominate controller users (FPS) so to make it better for all they simply need to allow the use of keyboard and mice combinations as in plug and play. Then it's a matter of preference. Saying that, the controller users will eventually have to adapt to PC controls if they want to compete.

I've not seen the Forza 7 benchmark yet. Is Forza using anything with Vega that should have it getting performance levels above expectations?. As in using any of the new technologies present within Vega that most are worried will not be adapted by developers?.

'Instruction prefetching' according to AMD Matt. Could bode well for the future of Vega..

What shortages? I've yet too see a true lack of stock, They had stock for weeks and while there aren't high numbers of them they're not exactly flying out the door, It took weeks to sell them even when they had 3 figure discounts. Now that that stock finally sold they're back to silly money. Regular gamers aren't queueing up for Vega and those implying otherwise are delusional. Last month we had WCCF tech claiming there was no stock and everyone was waiting but both big UK e-tailers and the big US e-tailer had plenty in stock leading me to conclude WCCF must mean in darkest Africa where no-one's got a PC anyway.

350 is a Vega56 at the right price, just might take 6 months to get the proper pricing which is a shame. Sterling is very wonky but climbing higher one stumble at a time

Thats the kind of news I was hoping to hear. The Forza in windows store doesnt like my xeon cpu, is there a util I can trick that maybe. I'll get a new cpu when Intel brings in new models and pricing I guess but this one has 16 threads so possibly fine
