Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

it will be interesting what the statement says, but I agree with the above posts, surely they would know already what the rrp is and as such can give a quick answer, bizarre.

Need to buy more popcorn.

Well, there was a B Grade 1080 G1 Gaming on here for £419 yesterday so I bought that. It'll be a real shame to lose Freesync but I can't see a chance of AMD providing what I want to buy (an AIB Vega 64 for £450). On the plus side, Furys are still selling for decent money so it should be a fairly cheap upgrade.

Maybe they going to announce a new feature, "dynamic rrp".

I never thought this review thread would reach 44 pages.

Having said that I do like the look and style of the new Vega cards, something that AMD have improved a lot compared to older cards like the 290X.:)

Such whinging over a piece of hardware. People believe their own hype and apart from the whole 'Poor Volta' fiasco I didn't expect the 64 to be anywhere near the 1080ti

People wanting 1080ti performance for 1080/70 price is quite frankly laughable.
I do know man. I do recall 290X coming out and beating the Titan costing a lot less and people before were thinking the Titan was something unbeatable.

I am sure AMD were expecting better performance from Vega. Going from 28nm to 14nm alone gave them many more transistors to play with, never mind HBM2 and all the time for a new architecture. Also 14nm should be a lot more mature now than when it was available over a year ago. Theoretically they should have been able to beat the 1080Ti with Vega, but it just did not happen.

Maybe they going to announce a new feature, "dynamic rrp".

Lol :D

Lol, boost price £599
Maybe they going to announce a new feature, "dynamic rrp".

They will only launch that feature in a later driver update that will also magically also improve performance!

Always something with you isn't there. No they didn't say it would beat 1080Ti specifically but they did imply it numerous times.

As for the price... they told reviewers the retail price was £499. They never mentioned to them the limited 1 hour window. That is a BIG no no in publicity terms and a massive **** up.

We are working on a statement and plan to issue something in the following days.

Note, the statement won't come from me, I'm part of AMD GCC, it will come from AMD PR.

Takes AMD days to make a simple statement. Why ? Are they getting the Trump administration to do it ?

I think my Team Green days are close.

Always something with me? You need to step back a bit bud and chill out. I personally think AMD have done well with such a limited budget and Vega 64/56 is a decent upgrade for many users. It was available for £450 (Vega 64) and I was very tempted to grab one myself for reviewing but not a fan of custom cards, so pulled out. I have seen you are a little upset with this launch for some reason but there is alternatives, so no need to be so vocal :)

With this launch AMD are just coming across as very amateur, how long have they been in the business?

Yes Indeed amongst other things cooling, power usage, performance, price.

Why not cool both models 64/56 with AIO to help keep noise and heat down as standard to off set the price, power usage has AMD got shares in EU+UK power companies. Them comes performance a V64 somewhere between a 1070-1080 / V56 = 1070 price wise the 1070/1080 better value for the money.

Not to impressed with Vega my 980Ti still performs well at 1440p so still not in a hurry to update.
