Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

I take it you've eliminated GPU? I know a small number of 1070 and 1080 have some flickering issues with some high refresh displays in some configs. (EDIT: though the 1080ti supposedly doesn't have that issue supposedly).

I had issues with my XL2420T where if I didn't use custom colours most of the colour profiles after awhile caused the display to go green or flicker :s

Experienced the issue with 295X2, 1080, Nano and FuryX. And Benq didn't made a second question. It was flickering even when only on power and no GPU connected.
But happened 5 times, and now I am out of warranty. So need new monitor. Hence plugged the LG 29" I had, waiting for the new 3440X1440 HDR 200hz ones.

The TN swift and the 2730Z used exactly the same panel. :/
 
Ah right - had 3 Asus die to that issue basically. So far though the Dell which uses the same panel doesn't seem to be affected by it though.

Ouch! I take it you've tried your own high-spec cables too? Sometimes the cables that are bundled are rather suspect.
 
He truly has changed since he got his 1 Million subscribers.

Funny reading the responses though and all the tied emotional feelings how people get so attached to things.

Actually not. Was firstly discussed on the WAN video with Linus etc.
AMD used the reviewers, for promoting the Vega at wrong prices. But don't worry, Nvidia got same accusations also.

Had I bought a ROG Swift back in the summer 2014, when it came out, I wouldn't have bought the 295X2, nor the Nano or the FuryX or the GTX1080 last year or the 1080Ti this week. That's £2500 in total.
(the cost of the Rog Swift equals the cost of the 2730Z).
The 780Ti could have served me until the 980Ti (-£450), which could have serving me well even today and possibly next year. So £1900-2000 could have remained in my pocket last three years.

But such mistakes happen only once :)
Got now the 1080Ti which is a super card for 2560/3440x1440 which is going to be paired with a good gsync ultrawide, and will be used until is not adequate some time 2020.

AMD will be sad to see you go Panos, you was a heavy hitter for them on this forum. You are one of many they lost with Vega.

That made me cringe so hard when they starting comparing gameworks to next level jesus as only good for us. Also v wierd thing is when nvidia did it then it was totally cool because they were not in competition with anyone at the top end so ye and it does kind of feel like they all jumped on ryzen and missed with there rabbit punches so now they feel vindicated they can go after vega.
