It be sometime be for I get the vive or steam VR. But what are watching films like with it. Is it like being at the cinema watching it on a big screen?. This a loan would make me want to buy it.
Had my Vive for 3 months, tried a few short clips in 360 3D and in Cinema mode. The initial experience in theater mode is just like being at the cinema although I couldn't imagine watching a whole film for the following reasons:
1. Headset is too heavy to sit still and watch for a long time. Not so noticeable when you are moving around playing a game
2. It gets hot in the headset
3. The bigger the screen, the lower the detail so no match for watching something on a 4K TV.
4. It's not very sociable if you have family.
5. I would constantly be wondering what is going on around me.
6. Drinking a beer at the same time is difficult.... Not impossible though!
Agree with millermilla, its novel and feels like a 'bigger' screen depending on which program and set up you use in the Vive, but its not comfortable enough for me to sit a watch a film on it. When gaming I don't notice it as much but when just sitting watching things it bugs me more.
Its not high res enough to enjoy a film yet - it will be amazing in future though when headsets are lighter and more comfortable and the resolution is cinema quality.
Watched a few films. Older 80's flicks, so super hi def wasn't so much of an issue.
Works for me lying on the bed, films running in Big Screen beta. I curve the screen to about 80' wide and angle it at 30 odd degree above my head.
No real heat issues, watching in comfort... kinda fresh playing it out on the balcony scene in big screen. Likes said you can't eat or drink, but that's not a thing everybody does.
