hi my son and his mates bought a wifi bat, yes bat not a dongle.they used it a couple off times when they went surfing to pick up wifi hot spots in remote areas, ive connected it to my pc and a lot off connections do come up at least 30,just wondered what sort of access/permissions you need to connect to wifi hot spots, and is there a usage limit,or not worth the hassle,i think you can tell iam not wifi savvy, thanks for any suggestions etc,

That's essentially just a long-range antenna designed to be used outside isn't it?

In that respect it's no different to a dongle; you'd need the same permissions to access other people's networks through the access points you've found, as you would if you were within dongle range. - Most of the private ones will be locked down (with varying degrees of effectiveness).

If you've got an account with a hotspot provider (which seem to mainly be BSkyB and BT) currently, you can usually use their hotspots for free... I think.
