The witcher 2 performance

May be its an ATI driver issue. im currently using 11.5 with 11.5a hotfix. anybody tried with earlier driver versions?

Ridiculous really. Im not gonna play until i get playable frame rates.

Do you use Radeon Pro? Try forcing the Dirt2 xfire profile and Alternate Frame.

That's the second recent game (other being Crysis 2) where one of my gfx cards may as well be made out of wood.

Get yourself Radeon pro:

You can force xfire profiles onto unsupported games, for Crysis 2 you can use the 'bioshock' profile.

For the Witcher 2, use 'Dirt 2' profile. It's not a tremendous boost just now, but something is better than nothing.

Does anyone know the technical reason why crossfire optimisation appears to be in the hands of gfx card manufacturers rather than developers? Surely multi-GPU functionality should be open for developers to use their own optimisation techniques?

CatalystCreator Andrew D tweeted:
'We always try to get CF support the day a game releases, but sometime we don't see the final build of a title until it releases...'

'We're looking at Witcher 2 for single and CF - will release hotfix driver as soon as possible'

'Witcher 2 - CF profile - looks like a driver change is needed (can't do to much with just CAP) - will let you know more info when I have it'

When talking about xfire performance in Crysis 2, he blamed crytek for not putting AFR(advanced frame rendering) support into the game.

He sort of put the blame on developers and said all they need to do is put AFR support into games.

Nvidia must be using another kind of rendering for their titles than AFR, and I presume that's why there is big differences in performance for each camp with certain games.

I suppose it's payback for the red team just now as DA II ran like a dog on team green when it came out.

Wolvers, I have tried it, Witcher 2 went from 17-12fps to 35-22 fps using 'dirt 2' profile.
Somebody said to select 'AFR' in the dirt 2 profile, but this caused flashing issues with me.

I should point out that Radeon pro will also work forcing profiles with a single gpu as well!

I was just running around the first level testing performance and speaking to a few folk so I haven't went very far at all as I have just picked up the first Witcher again.

I'm going to give it a real go this time, as I probably wouldn't ever play it if I went straight to the second game.

I really only bought the Witcher 2 from GOG to support their decision on no drm and being developed for the PC(at the time). I know it may sound a bit daft buying a game for these reasons but it's just the way I feel about supporting gaming on the PC.

After reading more comments on how actually good the first game really is after the boring first level(where I originally lost interest), I'm now on my second try and to my genuine surprise I think I'm hooked.:D

anyone out there in ocukland playing this game on a graphics card less or equal to a Ati 4850 ? (512mb version).

On low settings this game still looks really good right?
