Okay guys...

I've just bought both these games as i'm a huge RPG fan and haven't played one for the last year or so due to time restrictions.

I am likely to only be able to find the time to play one of these games for a while so I want to know which one you feel is better as I just know I won't get around to playing whichever one I dont start first.

So tell me RPG fans.... The Witcher or Divinity 2 - DKS

The Witcher! Divinity 2 is by no means bad, but The Witcher is an awful lot better, if story and atmosphere are important to you. Combat in Divinity is probably better, but it's very repetitive, you're thrown into a fight every five feet at times.

The Witcher is simply fantastic - especially once you get into potions/alchemy, and once you're past the first act.

I'm a sucker for great stories so would I be right in presuming the Witcher is the best bet then?

Games I have played and loved are everything from Baldurs Gate/Icewind Dale to the Mass effect series. While I enjoyed Oblivion it was only for a short while as the story really didn't grip me.

Definitely The Witcher in that case. The story in Divinity is the worst kind of cliched fantasy tripe.

Edit - it's also worth playing just for the music.

They happen to be the last two games I played and finished.

Some bits of both games are quite tedious, as there are a couple of go here and fetch things several times. The Witcher has slightly smaller areas to wander, but you get more of them, whilst Divinity 2 has some absolutely massive zones but you zoom around as a dragon in them. It is also really quite difficult a lot of the time as the map is next to useless seeing as it doesn't point you anywhere, it is just a map.

Story wise both are quite good, The Witcher being a bit bigger, but the amount of side quests in Divinity 2 really builds up the back story. If you picked up The Dragon Knight saga you get a whole new zone to play around in which adds a fair amount to the story and the entire game gets a graphical boost.
