Hello people.

I liked Oblivion, played it for a bit and I felt that it got kind of dull on me. I think it's because I completed the main quest at a low level and didn't use the user created addons.... But that's beside the point.

The Witcher has caught my eye, it's strook me as something very similar to Oblivion but it looks a little more refreshing.

What can I expect in this game? Are there a lot of quests? What's the combat system like? Does it have a good crafting/creating system?

Is the game offline only?

I liked the Oblivion combat system, it felt like that you were in total control all of the time.

Is this a hungry game? How would it run on my rig : E4600 @ Stock, 2GB Ram, HD3870.

Any advice/information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Its nothing like oblivion, it is offline only, the combat system is great, you get 3 styles, heavy, group and fast, you have to choose depending on your oponents and to get combos you have to time your clicks when in combat but the animations are stunning and the animations change when you level up and get more attibutes.

before you start the game you can choose 3 difficulty settings (easy, medium, hard), its quite basic, easy doesnt require alchemy, medium requires alchemy in some parts, hard means you have to be topped up for most battles.

their are main quests and side quests, have not really done the side quests only done main quests. but the main quests are good, the travelling is a bit tedious sometimes but you get over that as you can fight monsters o your way around.

also the game will run fine on your system as long as you have the latest drivers and patches. the game can go choppy at times but its not that bad and doesnt really happen that often.

i would really recommend it, one of the best RPG games out for the PC. saying that i didnt like oblivion but im sure a lot of people will vouch for this game.

Thanks for your reply - Very helpful. :)

Looks like I'm going to be getting this game. I'm happy that it isn't online as I don't want to be addicted to another MMO. :D

Thanks for all the replys.

I've decided to test out the demo before I get the full game just to be sure that I like it.

So far it's good. I'm still getting used to the camera angles etc but I like how the combat system works.

I'm not too happy performance wise... To get a decent FPS I have to set view distance to average. :(

I really don't like the fact that you can't jump!

The main thing that's bugging me is that I can't play with max display distance, it gives me about 30fps in fights. :(

Can you guys run it maxed out with no lag?
