Hi there

Well we've been anticipating this card for quite a long time now and stock is finally due to arrive with ourselves next week. So this is now available for pre-order. Its very very expensive but its not only the fastest GTX 580 out of the box it also has the best overclocking potential of any GTX 580 currently available and should even surpass the legendary MSI GTX Lightning XE card too.

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £499.99 inc VAT

Extreme overclockers Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido and Illya "TiN" Tsemenko are not satisfied with the overclocking capabilities of current generation graphics cards. They want overclocking capabilities and performance that exists beyond what is traditionally considered enthusiast level. To overcome this, they began to work with EVGA on designing a new card from the ground up that is 100% focused on being the single fastest and greatest overclocking card on the block. This was accomplished with the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified.

This card features a 14+3 Phase Power Design that can deliver over 1000W of power, and the redesigned cooling solution with an 8CM fan improves efficiency by as much as 30% (compared to the standard cooler). The NEC Proadlizer, Super Low ESR SP-Cap capacitors, and high frequency 3MHz shielded inductors provide clean and precise voltage control, and the onboard voltage probe points lets you monitor them with ease. Of course, full support for the EVGA EVBot means that you can overclock and monitor your card on the fly, and a special OC BIOS enables extreme overclocking mode.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified is engineered and designed to perform for everyone, from gamers to the top overclocking enthusiasts in the world. The dual slot top cooled design means that you do not need to worry about space or motherboard layout limitations, and this card supports everything from single card up to 4-way SLI out of the box

Seems far too expensive given the 'bigging up' that Overclockers has been giving the 7970 over the last few weeks.

how does it compair to the 7970 ? , have you tested one yet ?

It will be slower.

But as ever there is always demand for top cards from both sides, even if one side is slower than the other, people will still buy the best NV offering.

Not to brag or anything but I have OC my twin frozr ii to 880mhz and it's perfectly stable. Took me all of 5 minutes. Is this the best they could really do? AND it's a £150 premium over the twin frozr ii I got.

not really ;)

these have been out a while and still perform on par with the 7970

I know you are looking for a GPU upgrade Cupra, a pair of these Classified cards would look superb in your system and provide excellent performance!

these are designed to be overclocked yourself though. 880MHz is a fairly easy task on most 580s, but these cards are designed to go well above and beyond that. :)

It surprises me they've gone for a very similar cooler to the reference? Even if the cooler is different I would have thought "normal" fans are better than those ones.

Still, can't say I don't want this card!

tbf tho rich, i wouldnt spend £1000 on these with 7970's available in a few days and a 2 month wait for 6xx im going to go out on a limb when i say this but if this card was designed for the likes of "Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido and Illya "TiN" then unless its runing on extreme sub zero cooling then i doubt it will be worth the premium.

Even waterblocks wont handle the kind of power this card is can draw so its a bad investment for the gaming enthusiast imho

This card is by the benchers for the benchers wich is strange as all the top benchers get there hardware free so i cant see where evga were looking to market a graphics card with power phases to handle 1000w and putting an air cooler on it to push sales of the card is idiotic

I can see high rma rates for this card by the people who buy it as it will be people wanting top clocks the same as extreme overclocks get but using the standard air cooler. EVGA even put waterblocks on there other cards to keep them cool and they cant ram 1000w through them

If you are one of the people with all the gear and no idea "THIS CARD IS FOR YOU"

If the above is wrong this card is just a marketing ploy and the palit 580 would be better suited with its better cooler and a price tag of around £380 for a 3gb model

and this is coming from someone dieing to spend £1000 on some graphics cards to chew bf3 up @ 2560x1600

It states 4 way SLI out of the box in the write up, but then states 3 way SLI in the Feature List below. So which is it ?

Not that i can afford or would want 3/4 of these monsters. Seems a bad buy now given what ATI are about to release anyway.

Again, people moaning about price.

You can't afford it, diddums, get over it.

I would be interested if it can match my 1ghz 580 ;)
