Hello guys.

To cut a long story short, we had a telemarketer to ring us who was from Sky, as we have Sky TV with them he said we could get "UPTO 16MB" internet for only £10 a month...

So we switched from BT which was around £20 a month...

On BT my internet was connected at a constant 7.6MB.... Now on Sky I'm connected at 200k.... It's so slow it's untrue...

I think I'm going to go back with BT, this really is appalling.... :(

Going to give BT a call up tomorrow and switch back over to them...

This is what you get when you are after cheap things lol ! :(

This is like being on 56K.... It really is terrible and appalling.....

They promised a good internet connection at all times, obviously they lied...

It takes about 2 mins just to load the OcUK forums page... I don't know what's wrong.

EDIT :: Can any one please give me a link to an accurate speed test page ?

Thanks.

Hello again guys.

If I was to ring Sky tomorrow, what should I say ?

I'd look like a bit of a plonker if I said "Argh my internet is slow, what can you do!?!"

I just did another speed test and I'm connect at 966.8 Kbps ....

This really is terrible... When I ring sky tomorrow and if they say it's how it is... I'll defo switch back to BT...

I'm trying to host my mates server... No wonder everyone who connects to it is dying of lag. -.-'

Just rang them up explaining my problem.

Obviously I spoke to some one who I couldn't understand because of the strong accent she said.

Any ways, I've got to wait 2 - 5 days for there technical team to contact me.... -.-

Talk about good service ?

Hello again.

Just received a call from Sky, but it wasn't the technical support team.

They said that BT have been doing some work in the area that I live in for a few days.... And when the work has been complete my internet speed will pick up.

Is it just me or does this sound like complete and utter bull **** ??

How can that effect my internet speeds !?!!?

Do you have a Right To Cancel period and will this 'few days' take you beyond it ? It's not unheard of for BT to do exchange upgrades but on the other hand if this upgrade takes you beyond the RTC dates i'd be sceptical and at least ask for a confirmation that they will let you disconect if the improved speed's promised never materialise.

I think I'll give them a few days.... And if my internet speeds still hasn't picked up, I'll disconnect with them.

I got promised high speed internet, and I'm simply not getting it.

EDIT : Wow... Connected at 100kbs.... :o :o This sucks.

This is a ******* joke seriously...

Just ran another line test and I'm at 36.4 Kbps ....

Maintenance or no maintenance... This isn't right.

Dave... I cannot thank you enough. You have been a massive help over MSN !!

I missed something very important out when setting up my cables... He kindly pointed this out to me and now I'm getting 10MB internet !!!

THANKS VERY MUCH !!!!! :D :D :D

I'm well chuffed !

My speed seems to have picked up again, it went on a bit of a lag spike.

I'm getting around 2MB - 6MB at the moment, which I say is pretty good really considering it's around peak time for internet users.

How did you fix it with your cables ? - Did you untie the knots in them or something ;)

but seriously, what was the problem you had ? I cannot think of how you can wire up an internet connection to get low speeds. I thought it either worked or it didn't

I forgot to plug a microfilter in.

Contacted Sky again this morning, now they are telling me that my live hasn't been provisioned....

Ok, so they gave me a number to ring and to tell them that my line hasn't been provisioned. They said they can't access the system at the moment and "ring back later."

This is BEYOND a joke.

Ok so I "rang back later"

They said my line had been provisioned.

Told me to look into my router settings, she asked what my router was connected at, I told her, it was something around 15MB, she said well what's your problem then.

I was told that the router settings WOULD say that, but if you actually got the speed it's another different matter.

Just ran a speed test and I'm at 1MB, so much for 15MB.

This really IS the worst ISP I've ever been on.
